Heading to France for yacht work? The rules around how you enter...and what you can do once you’re there...are under the spotlight. 🇫🇷
As recently reported by Triton News, French authorities are investigating how foreign yacht crew are entering France for training, job seeking and employment.
The developments have prompted the Professional Yachting Association (PYA) to clarify the rules surrounding visa-free entry, Schengen visas, dockwalking, daywork and employment.
One of the key takeaways? Being permitted to enter France does not necessarily mean being permitted to seek or undertake work there.
The issue also raises important considerations for yacht employers and crew placement agencies, particularly around employment documentation, compliance and the responsibilities that come with managing an internationally mobile workforce.
