This Memorial Day, we pause to remember and honor the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to the United States.

Their courage and sacrifice continue to remind us of the true cost of freedom, and the deep gratitude we owe to those who served.

🌍✨ Celebrating culture, heritage, and global connection

RVP International Teacher Blessing Madzwamutse from Zimbabwe, proudly shared her culture and heritage at Forest Grove Elementary School (LCPS), during the school’s Cultural Day celebration. 🇿🇼✨

Through stories, traditions, and cultural experiences, students had the opportunity to learn more about Zimbabwe and gain a deeper appreciation for the world beyond their classroom.

Experiences like this show how meaningful it is when international teachers bring their culture and identity into learning spaces, creating curiosity, understanding, and genuine global connection among students.

🌍 Bringing the world into the classroom.

RVP International Teacher Mariamo Bai from Mozambique shared her culture and heritage with students at Keith Middle School (New Bedford Public Schools) through a powerful cultural exchange presentation.

Through stories, traditions, and personal experiences, she created a learning moment that helped students see beyond their own world and appreciate new perspectives.

Experiences like this remind us how powerful it is when teachers share who they are, creating deeper connections and understanding in the classroom.

RVP International Teachers at LCPS recently visited the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center, a day filled with discovery, connection, and shared experiences.

This visit was made possible by Cultural Vistas, whose commitment to cultural exchange continues to create impactful moments beyond the classroom.

These are the experiences that stay with educators and naturally find their way back into the classrooms they serve.

Thank you, Cultural Vistas, for making this day happen for the International Teachers at LCPS. ✨

🌍📚 A classroom moment that went beyond the lesson plan

RVP International Teacher Wilson Ochieng Miruka, a SPED teacher at Roosevelt Middle School (New Bedford Public Schools), brought his students closer to Kenya through a cultural “Show and Tell” experience, sharing stories, traditions, and even a live virtual connection with students in Kenya. 🇰🇪✨

Through his activity, “A Day in Kenya,” students explored culture, history, and global perspectives in a way that made learning both meaningful and memorable.

As shared in The Roosevelt Report:
“Students showed a lot of interest… and were open to sharing more about their culture here in the United States.”

Experiences like this show how powerful it is when teachers bring their full identity into the classroom, creating space for curiosity, inclusion, and genuine connection. Through the RVP-USTeach program, educators like Wilson help make learning truly global.
