KS State 911 Board Formerly the Kansas 911 Coordinating Council.

The Kansas State 911 Board oversees 911 services statewide, supports system improvements, and administers grant funding—ensuring reliable, accessible emergency communications for all Kansans. The Coordinating Council is tasked with the following duties by the Kansas 911 Act:
(1) Shall select the LCPA upon advice and consent of the legislative coordinating council; Shall adopt rules and regulations

for the terms of the contract with the LCPA; shall determine the compensation of the LCPA who will provide staffing to council after 1-1-12; oversight of LCPA performance. (2) Authorized to adopt rules and regulations necessary to effectuate the provisions of the act;
(3) Monitor the delivery of 911 services;
(4) Develop statewide 911 planning and strategies for future enhancements to the 911 system;
(5) Develop criteria for expenditure of 911 grant funds and distribute available grant funds to PSAPs;
(6) Make an annual report to senate and house committees;
(7) Approve expenses incurred in carrying out business of the council;
(8) Determine if a PSAP has used 911 fees for unauthorized uses.

Please join us in giving a warm welcome to Tim Mikrut, the newest member of the Kansas State 911 Board!

Starting January 1, 2026, Tim will proudly represent Public Safety Answering Points (PSAPs) serving populations under 75,000. This role is vital to ensuring that rural and smaller communities across Kansas have a strong voice in shaping the future of emergency communications.

Tim brings dedication, insight, and a deep commitment to public safety. We’re excited to see the impact he’ll make in this important position!

Sherman County 911 has been honored by RapidDeploy for their outstanding performance during a tragic 70-vehicle pileup on I-70, caused by a sudden dust storm with zero visibility. The incident claimed 8 lives and tested every facet of emergency coordination.

Kansas NENA is seeking candidates to fill the following positions on our board.

👉Second Vice President

This will serve as a 30 day notice to request candidates.

All interested candidates must be active members of NENA. Please submit the chapter nomination form, as well as a signed statement of responsibilities to [email protected] by June 20th, 2025 at 5:00 PM CST.
