Searching & Applying – Part 3
9.) Don’t Rely Only on Online Applications
Not every employer posts positions online—many still prefer (and sometimes only accept) in‑person applications. Make sure you’re not limiting your opportunities. Get out there, visit employers directly, and apply in person. You might discover a great role that isn’t listed on any job board!
10.) Make Use of Staffing Agencies
Staffing agencies—like Peoplelink Staffing Solutions—partner with numerous employers in the area. They’re always looking for strong candidates and often have access to positions you can’t apply to on your own. Some companies hire exclusively through agencies, making them essential for job seekers. Think of staffing agencies as career matchmakers: their recruiters know how to get your foot in the door with employers you may have struggled to reach in the past.
11.) Explore All Online Job Resources
There are countless online platforms that companies use to find candidates, so don’t rely on just one. Using multiple job sites increases your access to openings and boosts your chances of finding the right fit. Popular platforms include Indeed, LinkedIn, Glassdoor, CareerBuilder, ZipRecruiter, Google for Jobs, Monster, FlexJobs, Ladders, WellFound, GetWork, and Snagajob.
Don’t forget about Facebook job boards, local news websites, and community job boards—those can be valuable resources too!
