Most advisors would love to work with athletes. But it’s worth asking why. Are they doing it for the money or impact?

At WIN, we don’t have to think twice. Derron played in the NFL and went on to buy and sell real estate and businesses. Malique played Division 1 football and spent 8 years in the financial industry. Between the two of us, we’ve sat on both sides of this table. As the athlete trying to figure it out, and as the advisor who saw where the system kept falling short.

We’ve watched talented guys earn real money and end up with nothing to show for it. Not because they were irresponsible. Because they never had someone who truly understood their world. The contract timelines. The lifestyle pressure. The career that ends before most people even think about retirement.

Most people don’t wake up and say I’m going to hire a financial advisor today!

I audited our last 10 clients and found three patterns:

Derron and I built WIN for people like the ones in that room. We work with entrepreneurs and we believe athletes are the next generation of great ones. NIL has changed everything. Kids are building brands and businesses at 16 and 17 years old. They deserve a financial team that actually understands their world.
