People from all over the country traveled here today to see the monument dedicated to the first nuclear bomb ever detonated. I met folks from OR, AZ, CA, NM, FL.

This was my first experience of the and I understand why it was chosen. It is secluded, remote, and the mountains could protect the project from potential enemy onlookers. The drive was beautiful, and gave me a lot of time to think about all the reasons I love NM and am so proud to represent and serve.

I understand the ramifications of this test site for so many families living nearby, and their efforts for relief continue.
