Key Responsibilities of the Cooler Department in a Dairy Distributor:
Storage Management
Maintain proper temperature (usually 34°F–40°F / 1°C–4°C).
Organize inventory based on FIFO (First In, First Out) to prevent spoilage.
Monitor expiration dates and product rotation.
Receiving
Accept and inspect incoming dairy products.
Ensure cold chain integrity is maintained during transfer from suppliers.
Order Picking & Packing
Select and stage orders for delivery.
Ensure accurate fulfillment and packaging of products without compromising cold storage standards.
Sanitation and Safety
Keep the cooler clean and compliant with food safety regulations (e.g., FDA, USDA).
Regular checks for cross-contamination risks.
Temperature Monitoring
Continuous logging and monitoring of cooler temperatures.
Alert systems in case of temperature fluctuations.
Coordination with Other Departments
Work with logistics, inventory control, and dispatch to ensure timely and accurate deliveries.
