Access to food is easy to take for granted when you have never had to wonder where your next meal will come from.
Recently, members of the Award Staffing team volunteered with VEAP. The experience gave us a closer look at the care, effort, and attention that go into helping individuals and families facing food insecurity.
What stood out most was not only the amount of work being done, but the standard behind it. Food is carefully inspected, reviewed, and presented before reaching community members. That attention matters. It helps ensure that people receive more than food. They are treated with the dignity and respect every person deserves.
The day also gave our team an opportunity to work together in a different setting and strengthen our connection to the community we serve. A special thank-you to Paul and Brian for guiding us through the process and helping us understand how each task contributed to a much larger effort.
We are grateful to VEAP for the opportunity to lend a hand and learn from the people doing this important work every day.
Meaningful work can take many forms. Sometimes, it looks like helping make sure a neighbor has food on the table.
