American Crane & Equipment Corporation (ACECO) is a U.S.-based manufacturer of custom electric overhead traveling cranes, wire rope hoists, and material handling equipment, with capacity up to 1,000 tons.

We engineer for the industries others won't: nuclear, aerospace, semiconductor, advanced electronics, and chemical processing. Every crane is custom-designed by our in-house team of electrical, mechanical, and structural engineers in southeastern Pennsylvania.

Founded in 1972. Women-owned since 2022. Still building.

Safety Month is great. But honestly? We don't need a calendar reminder.

Our team builds cranes that end up in nuclear plants, aerospace facilities, and some of the most demanding environments on earth. The people doing that work take safety personally.

That's the difference between a safety policy and a safety culture.

75 tons. One plant bay. A 270° rotation.

When ACECO needed to move a newly fabricated monster girder from the fab bay to sandblast, through two doorways, up a ramp, no staging area... conventional equipment wasn't going to cut it.

So they put the Scheuerle SPMT Powerhoss to work on its very first job at the facility. Welder-mechanic Chris Smith breaks down exactly how the move got done: how the machine works, what the team had to think through before anything rolled, and what it took to pull off one of the tightest in-plant transport jobs they've run.
