Marines in the Reserve are a vital element in the demand for comprehensive combat readiness. Reservists may be called upon to strengthen active forces in peacetime and in time of war, provide support during national emergencies as demonstrated in their efforts during COVID-19, or lead community service efforts like the Marine Corps Toys for Tots program. Reserve Marines also maintain their civilian commitments (such as college, work, etc) but are ready to support their Corps in major combat assignments, humanitarian efforts, and national emergencies.

Some of the benefits and responsibilities you can expect as a Reserve Marine include:
- Marine Units often located near your home or school.
- Training with full pay one weekend per month and two weeks per year.
- Choosing your Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) AND Duty Station at time of enlistment.
- Advanced MOS training and leadership opportunites that will help you in all aspects of your life, including your civilian career.
- The same recruit training and formal schooling as active-duty Marines.
- Additional financial assistance for college with your GI Bill.

So what’s stopping you from finding out if you’re qualified for this program and these benefits? Send me a message!

“What inspired me to join the Marine Corps? In high school I was always the weak one, I was excused from PE most of the time because I struggled so much. There was a lot of the ‘oh she’s a girl, she’s in the band, she’s weak, she won’t be able to do anything. You’ll never be able to get into the Marine Corps.’ For me it’s about proving people wrong and going past what I think my limits are; that brings me a lot of joy.”
- Lance Cpl. Caroline Okuno, a flutist with the 1st Marine Division Band
