We started the summer with the best JROTC event In the state JCLC!!! The Team has spent the week with local cadets at Georgia Military College challenging and supporting a successful event. A whole week of activities concluded with helicopter rides supported by the Georgia Army National Guards Aviation assets!! To top it off the Corps of Cadet awarded 2 scholarships to stand out students. One of them being our own local senior Maeli Bowers!! Congratulations to her!! What will the team do next!!!

This past week Cass high school grad SSG Christian Lynch took Chick-fil-A biscuits for their Biology students taking the EOC! SSG Lynch is the Georgia Army National Guard recruiter and career counselor assigned to the school. SSG Lynch is “grateful to give back to his community, even better when it’s the school he graduated from!” Cass high school staff have stated that they “greatly appreciate the partnership between the Georgia Army National Guard our ROTC program and the whole Cass family!”

Another night recognizing our seniors!! Last night SSG Banquez had the pleasure of speaking and recognizing 3 special young lady’s at Murray County High School. PVT Madalyn Lynch, PVT Edith Perez and PVT Adrianna Bautista enlisted into the Georgia Army National Guard in the middle of their senior year. SSG Banquez and his team “thank the teachers and staff at Murray County High School as they have formed a wonderful partnership that has allowed the school and students to benefit from the sponsorships and various services they provide” being part of the community is what sets us apart from others.. MSG Rewis and SGT Smith are both Murray County High School graduates and love being able to give back to their school!! Like they say “once an Indian Always an Indian”…. Congratulations to these young ladies as they start their new journey!!!

“It was a great day to be a Raider” said SSG Leo Banquez this past week after Southeast Whitfield High School hosted their military signing event that celebrate seniors who have chosen to enlist… reason behind this well not only is he the Recruiter and Career Counselor assigned for this school but he is also a 2005 graduate from there!!! PVT Erick Fraire pictured was honored along with PVT Yuri Casas (not pictured). PVT Casas met the graduation requirements earlier in the school year and decided on taking an administrative early graduation in order to leave to training, with great coordination and the helpful counselors at the school Ms. Purvis (pictured) is gathering all of her graduation items for her. PVT Casas will return just in time to walk with her class!! SSG Banquez has fond memories of PVT Fraire as once upon a time SSG Banquez was his little league coach!! ….

Now Let’s honor these students for joining the Georgia Army National Guard and stepping up and committing to serving our Community, State and Nation

When someone asks what’s the best thing about the National Guard I always tell them besides the educational benefits well it’s family!! You may get separated at one point or another but always find yourself back with the ones you have bonded with the most!!
