I've been recruiting for more than a decade, and one thing is always true:
The job market never stays the same.
Here's what I'm seeing right now.
📌 Hiring is happening. Despite what the headlines may suggest, companies are still hiring. The difference is that many are hiring more intentionally.
📌 The competition is higher. Many positions receive hundreds of applications within days of being posted. That means your resume has to clearly demonstrate why you're a fit.
📌 AI is changing hiring. Companies are using technology to screen resumes, identify qualified candidates, and improve recruiting workflows. Candidates who tailor their resumes to each position have a much better chance of getting noticed.
📌 Certain industries continue to grow.
Some of the strongest hiring activity continues to come from:
• Healthcare
• Financial Services
• Technology (especially AI, Cybersecurity, Data, and Cloud)
• Manufacturing
• Logistics & Supply Chain
• Skilled Trades
📌 Relationships matter more than ever. Networking isn't just for executives.
Connecting with recruiters, engaging on LinkedIn, and building genuine professional relationships can open doors that applications alone sometimes can't.
The biggest takeaway?
Don't mistake a difficult market for a hopeless one.
People are getting hired every single day.
Keep improving your resume.
Keep preparing for interviews.
Keep building relationships.
Your next opportunity may be closer than you think.
