Allegany County Sheriffs FOP Lodge #144 F.O.P. Lodge 144,
The Allegany County Sheriff’s Office Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #144 of the Allegany County Maryland

10/22/2026

As President, with the privilege of representing the hardworking men and women of the Allegany County Sheriff's Office union, it is my honor to remind the community of our unwavering support for David Morgan for Sheriff.

This decision was not a difficult one. Sheriff is not a position to be learned on the job — it is the chief law enforcement office of this county, and the men and women of this Lodge know better than anyone what that office demands. Dave Morgan has the experience. He has done the work, he has carried the responsibility, and he has earned the trust of the people who serve beside him. He is the only candidate in this race who is truly viable to lead this office.

Dave shows up, day after day, and does the job right. He does it with the best interests of the public first — and, a very close second, the men and women under his command.

We look forward to welcoming him as the 72nd Sheriff of Allegany County, Maryland.

The Fraternal Order of Police, Lodge 144, proudly endorses Dave Morgan for Sheriff, and we ask the people of Allegany County to vote for him on Tuesday, November 3rd.

Christopher D. Hill
President, Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 144

The Fraternal Order of Police, Lodge 144, is by tradition a conservative body, and we hold conservative values as part of who we are. But we are Americans first, and we will stand behind any candidate — Republican, Democrat, Green Party, Libertarian, or anyone else — who we believe has the best interests of the people of Allegany County at heart.

Mrs. Chelsea Boor earned our vote. She didn't have to — she chose to come to us, to sit down with the men and women who serve this county every day, and to ask for our guidance. And she didn't come empty-handed. She came with a true plan for the future of Allegany County.

That's what this county needs: leadership that doesn't end its statements with "because we can't," "give us another year," or "it's the state mandates." Ms. Boor ends her statements with a plan — every single time.

And consider this: both public safety unions in Allegany County — the men and women who run toward the danger everyone else runs from — are standing behind the same candidate. Mrs. Boor does not come from our side of the political spectrum, and no one is pretending otherwise. When both of this county's public safety unions cross that line together, for the same person, at the same time — that has to mean something. It means this was never about party. It's about who showed up with a plan.

Lastly, all the counties in this state are dealing with the same economic issues and the same state mandates — yet the vast majority have not used those issues as an off-ramp from their responsibility to protect the communities they represent and keep the public safe.

She earned this. It is with respect and with pride that the Fraternal Order of Police, Lodge 144, endorses Chelsea Boor for Allegany County Commissioner, 2026. We ask you to vote for her — and for our partner for the future Commission President Dave Caporale, — on Tuesday, November 3rd. Together Allegany County has a real chance to advance. Thank you.

The Allegany County Sheriff's Office is proud to announce our annual No-Shave event! From October 1st through November 30th, our deputies will be putting down their razors to raise funds and awareness for a truly inspiring local young man who embodies every quality of a true law enforcement officer.

This year, we are honored to partner with Courageous Carson and his family as he bravely battles cancer. Please consider donating to this great cause and helping us support Carson in his fight against cancer!

Just something to consider

BUDDY CHECK: THE BADGE WEARS MANY HATS - When you call 911, you’re not just calling “the police.” You’re calling someone trained to be a crisis counselor, a mediator, a first responder, an investigator, and sometimes a social worker, all in the same shift.

A Officer might start the night at a community event, respond to a domestic disturbance, sit with a family during a death notification, then talk someone through a mental health crisis. Each of those calls requires a different skill set. All of them require the same person to show up calm, capable, and ready.

This isn’t a complaint, it’s context. Our communities have leaned on law enforcement partners to fill gaps that other systems haven’t kept pace with: mental health response, addiction, homelessness, youth issues. Officers answer that call because that’s the job. But it also means we have to be honest about what it takes to do this work well: proper training, adequate staffing, and real support for the people wearing the badge: internally, through training and resources, and externally, through community partnership.

Our leaders should continue to commitment to making sure our Officers have what they need to handle this responsibility in our rapidly growing county, to enhance their abilities to provide highly trained law enforcement services, and to work with our community so law enforcement isn’t standing alone at the intersection of every problem we haven’t solved together.

This is the reality of 21st century policing. Our Officers answer the call day in and day out. Training, funding, resources, and professional development are imperative to set them up for success at serving you | 🇺🇸⚫️🔵⚫️🇺🇸
