What Memorial Day Means to Me
Memorial Day is more than the backyard barbeques 🍗, the long weekend vibes 🌞, or the family gatherings 👨👩👧👦.
For me — as a combat veteran 🎖️ — it’s deeper than that.
It’s about the footprints of the past 👣… the Elder warriors who walked before us, fought before us, and sacrificed so we could stand where we are today. In our cultures, we call that ancestry 🪶 — the lineage, the legacy, the bloodline of strength that carried us forward.
I think about every step they took… every battle they faced… every door they opened so I could be here, living in my purpose 🙏🏽.
Because of them, I know I must leave my own footprints — walk with intention, stand in purpose, and make sure the next generation has something solid to stand on tomorrow 🌅.
That’s what Memorial Day is to me.
A day of honor. A day of reflection. A day of purpose.
🇺🇸 Remembering the fallen. Walking in gratitude. Leaving footprints for tomorrow.
