It has been a terrible last 24-hours in the US Navy's Pacific Surface Forces. As most of you have probably heard by now, a widespread fire broke out on LHD-6 USS Bonhomme Richard in San Diego. Several Sailors and civilians were injured, but luckily no fatalities. The event is ongoing. Please keep all the Sailors, Officers, and civilian parties involved in your thoughts and prayers. We are all family, and this hits hard at home.

Today in US Naval history, July 6, 1747 - John Paul Jones is born in Arbigland, Scotland. Originally appointed to the Continental Navy in 1775, he is known for his quote, "I've not yet begun to fight!" during the battle between Continental frigate, Bonhomme Richard, and HMS Serapis on Sept. 23, 1779. He is entombed at the US Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD underneath the Chapel.
