Living and working in sunny Clearwater means paradise is never too far from the office.

Over the summer, we were lucky enough to spend some great days out on the water. Soaking up the Florida sunshine, chasing a big catch, sharing a few stories, and enjoying the kind of company that makes the day go by too fast.

There’s something about leaving the phones and desks behind, putting a line in the water, and letting the Gulf breeze clear your head. A day in the sun gives you a chance to slow down, reconnect, and come back ready for whatever is waiting on shore.

The fish are a bonus. The time spent together is what makes these trips worth remembering.

At Delta, our teamwork and communication doesn't stop on the recruiting floor.

For our August team-building event, seven teams took to Dill Dinker's pickleball courts for a best-two-out-of-three tournament. There was plenty of competition, even more trash talk, and some surprisingly serious pickleball happening along the way.

After a hard-fought bracket, it came down to Rocky and Jake versus Gray and Eric, with the underdogs Gray and Eric taking the final win. Congratulations, Gray and Eric! They walked away with bragging rights... and the memes that followed have made sure nobody forgets it anytime soon.

As it turns out, pickleball and recruiting require a lot of the same skills. You have to communicate clearly, understand your partner’s strengths, cover the gaps, adjust your approach, and keep working together when things don’t go according to plan. Whether you’re trying to win a point or help a great candidate find their new career, success depends on trust and follow through.

Days like this give us a chance to step away from our desks, strengthen the bond in the wolfpack, and remember that the best teams know how to work hard and have a good time together.

Alyssa may be new to recruiting, but you wouldn’t know it from the success she’s already had. She has been with Delta for a short time and has made a big impact by listening carefully, staying consistent, and doing what she says she’ll do. She may be quiet, but she’s tenacious: when she commits to something, you can rely on her to see it through.

Tyler is a hardworking recruiter whose background as a crane operator gives him a perspective you can’t learn sitting behind a desk. That field experience gives him a real understanding of the industry, the people who keep it moving, and what it takes to succeed. He brings that same dedication to guiding his candidates through every step of the process and working tirelessly to connect his clients with the best construction professionals in the industry.

Tyler is also a genuinely kind person, although he’d probably prefer we didn’t advertise that. His particular blend of sarcasm and support means he’ll give you a hard time about your squeaking brakes, then offer to help you replace your brake pads by teaching you how to do it yourself.

Championship teams, like strong construction careers, are built through time, trust, and hard work.

Ben has been playing in the Lightning Adult Ball Hockey League since before COVID. He spent five years on one team, then got reassigned to a new group that made it to the championship game but came up short two seasons in a row. This season, Ben helped rebuild the roster. They added Dean, along with a great new goalie and a few of Ben’s other friends. They created a new team logo and had some seriously sharp jerseys made. The Duster Pigeons were ready for this to be the season they finished the job.

Cut to 3 months later, they've got a 9–0 season and a championship trophy to show for it. That kind of run takes talent, teamwork, and the grit to keep coming back after a couple of tough losses. Congratulations to Ben, Dean, and the rest of the team - you guys earned every bit of this one!

One of the best parts of working at Delta is seeing professional relationships turn into real friendships. In recruiting and construction, trust is built by showing up, communicating, and working toward the same goal. Ben and Dean brought those same habits to the court, where competing side by side made an already strong friendship even stronger.

We rolled into our July team outing with plenty to celebrate! 🎳

The Wolf Pack traded the office for the bowling lanes to celebrate our wins for July and recognize Derek Borchardt for officially graduating from Delta Construction Partners’ first internship program!

Throughout his internship, Derek embraced every opportunity to learn, contribute, and grow. He brought great ideas, energy, and a willingness to take on whatever came his way from the moment he joined us. As our first graduate, he helped lay the foundation for a program designed to introduce the next generation to recruiting, leadership, and the construction industry.

You never know who you’ll run into when you get good people from the construction industry together.

Ben, Jake, and Dean kicked off the evening at Rick’s on the River, where they ran into Bert Kreischer and Tom Segura celebrating 813 Day before the ABC Florida Gulf Coast Membership Appreciation Event. They shared a few stories and laughs and it was a pretty memorable way to start the night.

ABC Florida Gulf Coast does a lot more than put on a good event. They bring construction professionals together, help develop the next generation of skilled workers, and provide valuable safety and professional training.

We’re proud to be part of a group that understands this industry and keeps working to make it stronger.
