Do you remember the talented young percussionist Kimmi Lin? 🥁 This past weekend, we were thrilled to see her in action again in an exciting recital!

After first showcasing performances by several of her own young students, Kimmi took the stage to share her incredible talents on the marimba and snare drum. She even performed several pieces alongside three percussion members of the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra!

Kimmi was one of our 2024 competition finalists and also performed at our fall 2024 fundraising event, Ariel After Hours. She is graduating from Ladue High School this month and will be attending Northwestern University this fall as a percussion major. 🎓

We hope to see her perform again soon. Please join us in wishing Kimmi the best of luck in her next chapter! 🎶

What an exciting afternoon of music we had on February 15 with the University City Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Dr. Leon Burke. Our 2025 APS Competition winner, pianist Jun Hong (Ivan) Jiang, played Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 21 in C for a packed house at the Kirkwood Performing Arts Center. When Ivan concluded the concerto, the audience exploded with enthusiastic applause and cheering!

The concert also included a jazz segment, Charlie Parker with Strings, arranged by Jimmy Carroll, featuring saxophonist Kendrick Smith, and a Bartók viola concerto featuring Paraguayan violist Marcelo Jimenez. It was a wonderful and eclectic program!

Pianist Stephen Porter treated us to a beautiful evening of music on November 14. It was a joy to have the 2002 APS Competition Winner back on stage.

His well-crafted program was artistically performed with skill, precision and sensitivity. The audience loved it! The program included music by Clara Schumann, Franz Schubert and Franz Liszt, as well as contemporary composers Andrew List and Darwin Aquino, who were in the audience!

The following morning, Porter held a masterclass featuring four Webster students.
