The Oregon Army National Guard believes in recognizing excellence. If you know an athlete who exemplifies Leadership and Team Spirit, nominate them as your Most Valuable Teammate. Submit nominations at: OSAA.org/Awards/Most-Valuable-Teammate.

About the MVT Award. The Oregon Army National Guard and the OSAA will recognize athletes that exemplify what being a teammate is all about. Every varsity coach will be asked to identify the MVT of their team. Each MVT will receive a co-branded item that will be presented at schools by National Guard members when possible. Of all MVTs identified by coaches, one will be selected and recognized for each activity. All MVTs will have the opportunity to apply for one of three $1,000 college scholarships (one per season).

Happy Veterans Day!!!

Thank you to all those that have served and still serve. Thank you for your sacrifice.

I think we tend to forget what veterans do or did. Not only did you sacrifice your lives, but you sacrificed your time, time away from home, time away from your wife, husband, your son, daughter, parents, grandparents, friends, loved ones.

Time is something we will never get back. Wounds heal, but time is forever lost.

Veterans see and experience things that 99% of the rest of nation doesn’t see, which means you can provide a unique perspective on life. Something that each of us should use as a lesson to be better. It doesn’t matter where we stand on politics, these are lessons that can be beneficial for everyone.

Lastly, thank you to the family members of veterans, you sacrifice the most and bear the weight of not only those who serve, but your own and those of everyone else. Thank you, you deserve it.
