Most people don’t know this, but the first Labor Day was actually a massive protest for workers rights in the late 1800s!

At the time, America’s economy was booming because of the Industrial Revolution, but workers had virtually no rights.

It wasn’t until more than a decade later that President Cleveland made it a federal holiday.

So rest and relax!

But remember we still have a way to go!

Companies will do anything in their power to keep your claims hidden in the shadows.

But when you file a charge with the EEOC, you shed some light.

You can use ChargeReady to get started with your EEOC charge.

ChargeReady is an A.I. assisted tool that helps your draft your EEOC Charge. It takes you step by step to get all the information you need. Once you’re down, all you do is print it out, sign it, and mail it in.

And just like that, your charge is filed.

Can your company make you take a fit for duty after you disclose a disability?

Yes…

…but only if it’s limited to finding out if you can do essential functions of the job!

If it’s used as discipline or retaliation, it is still illegal!

When you hear someone say they're a "lawyer" or "attorney", what's the first image that comes to mind?

Maybe an older, White, male. Super serious. Never smiles. A bit nerdy and smart.

Now imagine the shock people get when they hear that I'm an attorney.

A young Black male. Super goofy. Always smiling.
(Still a bit nerdy and smart though 😅)

Then I tell them my siblings are a doctor, an engineer, and a talent acquisition whiz.

Almost 100% of the time, the next question is:
How'd your parents do it?

I think all four of us would have different answers if you asked us. But I really think it comes down to a few things:

1. They encouraged us to honor God by helping those in need.
2. They NEVER told us that we could not do something.
3. They challenged us to do and be better.

People always tell me our family is "successful".

But to me?

It's just what we do.

Generally, HR never says you were discriminated against. Why?

Because if they did, they could potentially put the company at risk.

But sometimes.

They follow the facts.

They do the right thing.

And make sure you’re not harassed again.

Most people don’t find out the EEOC exists until after they’ve already been fired. Here’s what it is and why it matters ⬇️

Don’t ever assume that your company KNOWS you’re being discriminated against!

A big part of making a company responsible for what they did to you is knowledge of what happened and doing nothing about it.

The best way to show that?

A written report that specifically lays out everything.

If you know it’s going to rain, you’re not going to leave the house with nothing.

You bring a coat.

Or an umbrella.

And you make sure you’re prepared.

SuitReady is your coat for filing a lawsuit after you get the right to sue from the EEOC.

It takes you step by step to gather all the info you need to file your complaint in Court.

And if you used ChargeReady before, it automatically syncs up your information.

Use the link in bio to get started!

Here are some examples of retaliation the EEOC invesigates:

1) Termination

Especially if it’s right after your complaint

2) Schedule changes

Usually a removal or severe reduction in hours

3) Increased Scrutiny

Look for nitpicking and discipline for things people don’t get discipline for

*KEY- The complaint isn’t protected unless it’s about discrimination based on your protected class!*

People think that the reason employees sue companies is so they can get paid and because they are pi**ed off about getting fired.

Actually, when most people call, they rarely ask about money, and they are not even that mad.

There is one thing that everyone asks though:

"Is this legal?"

They ask this because they feel:

Ignored.

Disrespected.

Embarrassed.

Frustrated.

Scared.

Confused.

They feel all these emotions, because they did what they're "supposed to do". When they reported someone for NOT doing what they were supposed to do, they are told that things are "not a big deal", that something was a "joke", or that they're "overreacting." They were never given an update after their report aside from just saying "it was investigated".

And then they were fired. With no warning, no reasoning, and a lot of unanswered questions.

People who sue their employers aren't trying to get rich or get revenge.

They just want some answers.

And suing was the only way to get them.
