Looking at resumes everyday wishing they would teach a course in 12 grade of how to create on. It’s unfortunate how many people are unaware of what is needed on a resume.

It’s also unfortunate that it’s your first impression to a Recruiter. How many people got a job because their resume was amazing but they weren’t? How many amazing people got looked past because their resume skills were not good?

Do you ever wonder why employers ask you to “tell us a little about yourself”?

1. To ease into the interview. Nothing like an abrupt start to a conversation

2. Employers want to know what your skills are, do you have any degrees or reputable education, and what your background is. This helps define your character.

So, how do you answer the question? My rule of thumb is past, present, future.

It seems like 2023 came about and now it’s so hard to land a job. Why is that? 🤷🏽‍♀️

Here are a few reasons why:

1. A position may be posted looking to hire one candidate while 50+ applicants apply.

2. A position is posted externally in addition to being posted internally.

3. Prominence of qualified candidates. It might be a challenge to compete with qualifying candidates. You can navigate this by keeping you resume up to date and optimizing your resume for an applicant tracking system (ATS)

Have you heard of the 5 C’s of interviewing?

Competency- the technical skills needed to complete the positions tasks.

Character- this refers to your personality. Skills can be trained, personality cannot.

Commmnication Skills- many tentions and crisis can be avoided with proper communication. Especially in a team setting.

Culture Fit- A person should feel happy when they come to work. Even a candidate with great technical skills, communication and character still may not work out if they are not a good cultural fit.

Career Direction- people are self motivated in a role they see a growth and development in.
