Find what fuels you.

Not what looks good on paper.
Not what everyone else is chasing.
Not what you think you should want.

What actually gives you energy?

The work that makes time move faster.
The conversations you lean into.
The problems you don’t mind solving, again and again.

You can be good at a lot of things… and still feel completely drained doing them.

Pay attention to what fuels you vs. what depletes you. That awareness changes everything. How you show up, what you say yes to, and where you grow.

Just start noticing. Energy is a signal.
Follow it.

Do you remember how exciting it felt to be a fresh grad, ready to take on the world, full of energy, ambition, and big dreams for the future.

But today’s market is tough, and for many new grads, that excitement can quickly turn into discouragement.

If a recent graduate reaches out to you, take the call. Grab coffee. Offer advice. Make an introduction. Share encouragement. A few minutes of your time could make a lasting impact on someone just trying to get their start.

We all remember being there once. Make time to support a budding career!

Keep it simple.

• Use a clean, professional format that’s easy to read
• Keep your resume concise and relevant
• Highlight internships, campus involvement, leadership, and transferable skills
• Proofread carefully, small mistakes matter
• Make sure your LinkedIn profile matches your resume with consistent dates, titles, and experience

Your resume doesn’t need to be flashy to stand out. Clear, polished, and professional goes a long way.

Job search tips from Chloe Diller, Recruiting Assistant and recent Indiana University graduate.

A professional photo is key for your LinkedIn profile, but don’t forget to update your preferences and clearly communicate what you’re looking for. A few quick updates can make a big difference in helping recruiters and hiring managers find the right fit for you.

• Update your preferred job titles and industries to show what roles interest you.
• Add preferred locations so there’s no confusion where you’re looking.
• Turn on the “Open to Work” feature and customize who can view it.
• Include skills, certifications, and keywords tied to the roles you want most.
• Refresh your headline and About section to reflect your current goals and strengths.
• Keep your contact information and availability current to make networking easier.

Small profile updates can lead to big career conversations and potential jobs!

Recent college graduate and University of Akron alum Sophie Webb, Client & Recruiting Coordinator shares her thoughts on the importance of networking.

Building connections with fellow alumni and attending career fairs can open doors to new opportunities, mentorships, and conversations with prospective employers. Networking not only helps expand your professional circle, but also gives students and graduates the chance to learn from others who have walked a similar path and are eager to give back.

To help you get started:
• Attend alumni networking events and introduce yourself to new people
• Connect with classmates, professors, and alumni on LinkedIn
• Prepare a quick introduction about your background, interests, and career goals
• Follow up after career fairs or networking events with a thank-you message or connection request

It was such a full-circle moment for Kate Beam, Recruiting Consultant. Speaking with Management students at her alma mater, LaVille Jr. Sr. High School, where she had the opportunity to share interview and resume tips, talk through her career journey, and reflect on how her experience in DECA helped shape the path she’s on today.

From Kate:
“There’s something really meaningful about giving back to the school and community that helped shape you. I’m grateful for the chance to connect with students, answer questions, and hopefully offer a little guidance and encouragement as they start thinking about their own futures! Go Lancers!”

Twelve years of Megan Freeman, VP of Recruitment! What a gift that has been to our team and everyone lucky enough to work alongside her.

Megan is the kind of leader who makes people feel seen. She leads with warmth, humor, generosity, and an authenticity that can’t be taught. She’s the person who can make you laugh in the middle of a stressful day, give thoughtful advice when you need it most, and encourage everyone around her to push a little harder and aim a little higher. Megan is competitive in the best possible way (although she plays a mean game of ping pong!), she inspires a healthy drive to succeed while always cheering her team on along the way. She celebrates life and her career with incredible gusto and clog dancing!

She’s the best fur mom to Boo and Wilbur, she’s an incredible mentor, a trusted partner, and someone who genuinely cares about the people she works with. Her impact goes far beyond recruiting; it’s in the relationships she’s built and the confidence she’s helped create in clients and candidates.

And while 12 years is certainly worth celebrating, we all know her greatest accomplishment is arriving this October… Baby Freeman 🤍

Congratulations, Megan. We adore you and are so lucky to have you.

Recent college grad and Purdue alum, Kate Beam, Recruiting Consultant, shares her thoughts on job searching.

As a fresh grad, your job search shouldn’t be about finding the perfect career path right away. But it should be more than, “I’ll do anything!”

It’s important to know what you like, what you’re good at, what kind of environment helps you grow, and where you excelled in school.

Every interview, internship, and first job teaches you something valuable, even when it’s not the right fit.

Be patient. Your first role doesn’t have to define your entire career. It’s the beginning of learning what fits, what doesn’t, and where you can grow.

Some of the strongest leaders are moms. They lead with resilience, patience, intuition, sacrifice, and an incredible ability to keep going even when things feel impossible.

They carry so much that the world never fully sees. They comfort others while managing their own worries. They show up for their families, their teams, their friends, and their communities day after day, often without recognition or applause.

And somehow, through it all, they continue to lead with grace, strength, and heart.

Motherhood isn’t just about raising children. It’s guiding, teaching, encouraging, protecting, listening, and loving people through every stage of life. So many women do this not only at home, but in the workplace too, mentoring others, creating opportunities, leading with empathy, and making people feel seen and supported.

Happy Mother’s Day to the women whose strength is felt in a million different ways every single day. The impact you make reaches farther than you know. 🩷
