Charlotte, what challenge will you tackle at the NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration International Space Apps Challenge? Tell a stellar story! ⭐

"Although the Sun is 93 million miles away from our planet, solar activity can significantly impact our daily lives. Your challenge is to write and illustrate a digital children’s story that explains what space weather is and the varying impacts it has on different people such as farmers, pilots, astronauts, power grid operators, and the general public. You can tell the story from the perspective of a person impacted by space weather or from the point of view of a solar flare or coronal mass ejection (CME) as it approaches Earth."

Skills for this challenge include animation, storytelling, science education, and knowledge of the sun and space weather. This year's event will be held at Sullenberger Aviation Museum October 4-5.

This is only one of many challenges that area youth can participate in at the Space Apps Challenge Charlotte. Learn more and register:

When we were younger, we often ran out of ideas for projects—not because we didn’t want to build or create, but because we didn’t yet know what meaningful problems were out there to solve. Looking back, that trial-and-error process, the cycle of trying again, was exactly how we grew.

That’s the magic of : you never know how much you’ll love something until you try it.

That’s also why hackathons like the International Space Apps Challenge are such powerful opportunities. They put real-world challenges in front of you and give you the space to experiment, collaborate, and explore. Whether you’re a student, a professional, or just curious about STEM, this is your chance to dive in.

Curiosity got you here—now let it take you further. Sign up today at spaceappsclt.org

Charlotte, what challenge will you tackle at the International Space Apps Challenge? Build a biology knowledge engine. 🌎

"NASA has been performing biology experiments in space for decades, generating a tremendous amount of information that will need to be considered as humans prepare to revisit the Moon and explore Mars. Although this knowledge is publicly available, it can be difficult for potential users to find information that pertains to their specific interests. Your challenge is to build a dynamic dashboard that leverages artificial intelligence (AI), knowledge graphs, and/or other tools to summarize a set of NASA bioscience publications and enables users to explore the impacts and results of the experiments these publications describe."

Skills needed for this challenge include AI and machine learning, data management, knowledge of flora and fauna, software building, and media/communications. This year's event will be held at Sullenberger Aviation Museum .
