TWG BRL, LLC, doing business as Big Red Liquors, Cap N' Cork, and Crown Liquors (among others), has been sued by an employee who alleges employees are not paid all earned wages. The Collective and Class Action Complaint alleges that store managers and assistant store managers are misclassified as exempt from overtime pay and, as a result, are owed unpaid wages. The lawsuit also alleges that TWG BRL, LLC makes unlawful deductions from the wages of all store employees for the cost of uniforms and liquor licenses. The lead Plaintiff seeks to represent a class and collective group of current and former TWG BRL, LLC employees. Community Health Network, Inc. has been sued by a former employee who alleges hourly Community Health employees are not paid for all hours worked. The Collective Action Complaint alleges that Community Health unlawfully rounds employee time punches. The lawsuit also alleges that employees are not permitted to clock-in more than 7 minutes prior to the start of their shift or clock-out more than 7 minutes after the end of their shift, resulting in time rounding in favor of Community Health. Lastly, the lawsuit alleges Community Health does not include shift differentials and weekend bonus pay when calculating the overtime wages due to employees, resulting in additional unpaid wages. In this lawsuit, the lead Plaintiff seeks to represent a collective group of current and former Community Health employees. Lilly Ledbetter had a significant impact on women’s right to equal pay for equal work. Many female employees may go years not knowing that they’re making less money than male employees who are doing the same job.

Lilly Ledbetter, an activist for equal pay whose legal fight against her employer paved the way for the Fair Pay Act, has died. She was 86.

Howard County Justice Center employees have earned their first major victory in their pursuit of unpaid wages. On July 11th, The United States District Court for the Southern District of Indiana ruled that the case will proceed as a class action. The Court certified a class that includes all present Howard County Corrections Officers, as well as any former corrections officers who voluntarily resigned from employment, who attended one or more mandatory roll calls, but were not paid wages for the roll call time, at any time from July 22, 2020 to the present. The class and collective action lawsuit alleges jail employees were not paid for 15 minutes of their time spent in mandatory meetings at the beginning of each shift. This resulted in additional unpaid regular and overtime wages.
