What started as a ride for cement workers became one of the most well-known vehicles in America. 🚌

The yellow school bus is now close to 100 years old, but its story began in a way most people would never guess.

In 1927, Georgia car dealer Albert Luce built a metal bus to move cement workers. When the firm passed on the idea, he saw a new use for it: getting kids to school.

The timing could not have been better.

As small, local schools began to merge into larger ones, more kids had to travel farther each day. The school bus helped make that shift possible.

Even the famous yellow came later. In 1939, transport leaders from all 48 states met and chose the shade for one key reason: it was easy to see. It became one of the first major safety rules for school buses.

Over the years, the bus kept changing with new safety gear, padded seats, stop signs, and now electric models.

It is a great case of how one simple build can shape an entire part of life in the U.S. for decades.

Comment below: Had you heard the school bus origin story before, or is this new information for you?

👻 Nearly 1 in 5 online job ads may be “ghost jobs.”

For job seekers, that can mean time spent on an application for a role that may have no real plan to hire.

Now, lawmakers are pushing back.

New York: A bill passed both houses that would make firms share when they plan to fill a role and could fine them for not following the rules.

Pennsylvania: A bill would require firms to be clear about their intent to hire and set timelines for taking filled or inactive roles down.

At iRiS Recruiting Solutions, we know how much time, work, and trust candidates put into a job search.

Updating a resume. Taking recruiter calls. Prepping for an interview. Researching a firm. Waiting for the next step.

That effort deserves respect.

Candidates should be able to trust that the roles they pursue are active and that they’ll get clear info about where a search stands.

Job hunting is hard enough without having to wonder if an open job is even open.

Ghosting may belong in scary movies. It does not belong in hiring. 👻

Do you think companies should face rules or fines for posting jobs they don’t plan to fill?

A recruiter should do more than make an introduction. They should advocate for you when it matters most.

For one Compliance Specialist, Brittany Wenger did exactly that. She stayed personally engaged throughout the process, understood what the candidate needed from their next opportunity, and advocated on their behalf during negotiations to help secure the offer they wanted.

After working with other recruiters in the past, the difference was clear: Brittany genuinely cared about their success.

That level of personal commitment is what candidates can expect from iRiS Recruiting Solutions.

Indiana has built one of the strongest manufacturing bases in the U.S., and some of the numbers are hard to ignore.

More than 540,000 people work in manufacturing across the state.

Indiana also produces about 27% of all U.S. steel, making it the top steel-producing state in the country.

And the story goes far beyond steel.

Indiana is seeing major growth in EVs, pharma, aerospace, med tech, robotics, 3D printing, and smart factory systems.

That mix of deep roots and new tech could make the state even more important to U.S. manufacturing in the years ahead.

Which fact stands out most to you: 540,000 workers, 27% of U.S. steel, or the growth in advanced tech?
