I know how quickly disruptions and rising costs can start to weigh on a supply chain.

I've found flexibility is about being able to adjust your approach when conditions change—not just sticking with what’s always been done.

I’ve been seeing more conversations around how teams are building resilience into their networks—looking at ways to scale when demand shifts, refine processes and find more efficient ways to manage cost and performance at the same time.

That kind of flexibility makes a difference. When your supply chain can adapt, it’s easier to navigate uncertainty, stay aligned with demand and keep things moving without overcorrecting every time something changes.

If there's one theme that keeps coming up in conversations about freight risk, it's visibility.

My colleague Rodney Cromwell, Vice President - Commercial, Enterprise Sales, spends a lot of time talking with shippers and brokers about the risks that chameleon carriers bring.

I recently read his article where he describes a chameleon carrier as one that shuts down after safety violations, compliance issues or fraud concerns, then reopens under a new name. On paper, they look brand-new and reliable. In reality, they may be the same operation with the same risks.

How are you spotting the carriers that don't add up?

Thinking about your next move on the road? Consistency can make a difference.

Intermodal driving is one path I recommend drivers consider when they want a mix of road and rail freight. At Schneider, that network has been running for 35 years, moving freight through established lanes and rail partnerships. Freight moves by both truck and train, with routes built around ramp locations and scheduled loads, and options that can include local, regional and some cross-border runs.

I've seen for many drivers, intermodal comes down to predictability in the day-to-day. Miles are often tied to planned routes, and freight moves through reliable, established lanes, which can make it easier to plan ahead.

This type of driving often fits drivers who like having a set rhythm to their schedule, live near rail ramps or prefer working within established freight patterns. It’s one of several paths out there, depending on how you like to run and what your day-to-day looks like.

Change how you run without changing carriers.

Ever reach a point where the job that fit you last year no longer fits the life you're living now?

I've seen our Schneider Transfer Team help drivers shift into a different schedule, freight type or route while staying with Schneider. You'll work with a dedicated, flexible team that maps out the move, so you keep your tenure and pick up where you left off.

Every year, the Transfer Team helps nearly 1,900 Schneider drivers move into different schedules—a real, working process, not a one-off exception. It's so rewarding to see drivers with fewer resets, more clarity and a steadier sense of direction as their life and priorities change.

What does it take to keep service reliable when freight needs—and routes—keep changing?

From what we see every day, it comes down to having more than one way to move freight. Our team supports multimodal transportation by bringing different modes together into one coordinated approach.

We plan and manage all of these together, so service stays reliable even as volumes and routes shift around us. For the teams balancing day-to-day service expectations while conditions keep changing, having options that adjust without adding complexity makes the work a lot smoother.

Brake Safety Week is here, and it's a reminder that safety starts long before an inspection.

As CVSA's Brake Safety Week takes place across North America, roadside inspections will focus on identifying brake violations and defects, with special attention on brake drums and rotors.

While I may not be behind the wheel or under the hood, I see firsthand the dedication it takes to keep our equipment road-ready. To me, Brake Safety Week is a chance to recognize the drivers and technicians who make safety a priority every day. Their attention to detail helps ensure our trucks are ready for the road and our communities are safer because of it.

It's also a reminder that safety is a shared responsibility. Whether it's performing a thorough inspection, reporting a concern or making a repair, every action plays a role in keeping our operations moving safely. I'm proud to be part of a team committed to doing things the right way. Thank you to the drivers and technicians who help keep safety at the center of everything we do.

I’ve noticed capacity can seem steady—until the market shifts and trucks get harder to find.

The way I look at this truckload setup is pretty simple—it’s built around a dedicated fleet that’s already out there moving 12,400 tractors and 52,000 trackable trailers.

Instead of piecing capacity together load by load, it’s all part of one connected network that’s already in motion. From what I’ve seen, this helps support a more reliable day-to-day flow for freight

If you’re used to adjusting plans as capacity tightens or trying to lock things in during uncertain markets, this kind of setup can feel more predictable.

Take a look at how this network operates when capacity becomes harder to find: http://sndr.pro/73

Ever wonder where your freight spend is really going?

I recently found a guide that breaks down the everyday cost drivers, like fuel swings and tight capacity, so it’s easier to see what’s impacting your spend.

It’s a quick read you can skim between tasks. Straightforward, reliable info you can revisit anytime.

Some photos just take you right back 🚛

That's Glen Bergen's truck from back in '04, a rig he ran mile after mile for years out here.

Drivers like Glen set the standard, and today's drivers carry it forward with the same skill and reliable, steady hands. The trucks have changed a lot since then. Better seats, smarter safety features and more room to rest. But the pride behind the wheel has stayed exactly the same.
