The 2026 IT and engineering hiring landscape isn't slowing - it's sharpening.

Robert Half's latest research forecasts 1.9% growth in net tech employment this year (roughly 128,000 new tech jobs) with salaries projected to climb 8–10%, and premiums of 10–15% for cybersecurity talent. The roles leading the charge:

• Cybersecurity engineers
• Data scientists & analysts
• Cloud and AI/ML engineers
• Platform and DevOps specialists

But here's the shift hiring leaders can't ignore: only 7% of tech leaders say they have the capabilities in-house to deliver on their priority projects, and 65% need to upskill their current teams.
