The Patient Services Representative position in Brunswick is responsible for the daily activities of accurately capturing registration information from patients for reporting and billing purposes and delivering an exceptional patient experience as a front line representative to a patient’s service. This is a full time, 40 hour per week, first shift position and the schedule is 8am-4:30pm Monday-Friday. This position should run for 4-6 weeks. You will be greeting all patients and visitors, responding to questions/concerns and directing them to the appropriate location. Provide on-going communication with clinical staff regarding patient status and collect and enter all necessary demographic, clinical, billing and insurance information from patients or responsible parties.

Other duties are as follows:

Explains processes and forms to patients prior to securing signatures and ensures that all documents are properly signed and witnessed as required.
Determines and accepts required payments, including co-pays and deductibles. Maintains a high level of knowledge in accepted insurance contracts and Financial Assistance Programs of the hospital.
Reviews patient search function so that no medical record numbers are duplicated.
Contacts insurance carriers to obtain benefits and authorization prior to scheduled procedure(s). Ensures authorizations are appropriate for treatment.
Explains policies to patients as needed. Coordinates internal and external hospital transfers of patients when appropriate.
Reviews admission, discharge, and transfers reports for any discharge errors, and makes applicable corrections.
Works with physicians’ offices to resolve issues and coordinating admissions. Remains current on specific changes and requirements relating to the various insurance carriers by maintaining ongoing communication between Patient Accounts, insurance carriers, provider relations, and third party payers.
Performs continuous account monitoring for registration accuracy and real time corrections.
Performs other duties as assigned.
May be required to be "on-call."
