ARTIST SPOTLIGHT: the - featuring jazz guitarist, composer, and educator Richie Nick, was put together by my good friend Richie Nicholson.

Richie and I grew up on the same block in Brooklyn, NY and so our mutual respect is through the roof (except sometimes when I have to put my Manager hat on and remind him that what I have to tell him is strictly business lol). We reconnected about 12 years ago at a music teacher conference where we discovered that we were both music school educators and when we retired, we pledged to get his talented band to the next level.

Not your typical Smooth Jazz band, the Richie Nick combines R&B, Swing, Latin, and Contemporary Jazz and Caribbean flavors to delight audiences with his melodic guitar at the center. When Richie adds a saxophonist and vocalist to the talented trio (usually comprised of Henley Goddard on bass and Phillip Nichols on keys), it takes the music and the performance to a whole new level.

A favorite for private parties and corporate event cocktail hours, the Richie Nick Band is just as at home at concert events in Central Park and clubs and restaurants in the tri-state area.

ARTIST SPOTLIGHT: the Latin Soul Collective is a band project I started this year bringing together some of NYC’s most talented musicians to play the perfect mix of Salsa Classics, Latin Jazz, & Cuban Soul to listen to, sway to, or dance to your heart’s content.

The band has expanded to 8 and 9 pieces with a dynamic horn section comprising of an amazing sounding trombone section and passionate male and female vocalists and a tight rhythm section that will make sure you can’t sit still and is already starting to perform at venues in the tri-state and getting booked for private and corporate events.

Having had wonderful experiences playing in Salsa bands (salsa, merengue, cumbia bands) myself many years ago, and being exposed to various Latin musical styles throughout my upbringing, this project was a dream in the making that, along with the right talented and brilliant group of musicians, I was finally able to make happen.

When I was still in college (in the 80s), I had the good fortune of attending shows in Greenwich Village NYC at venues like the Village Gate and the Blue Note Jazz Club and got to see some of my jazz heroes play alongside legends in the Salsa and Afro-Cuban Latin Jazz genres from Mongo Santamaria and Tito Puente to Machito’s Orchestra, Eddie Palmieri, and Ray Barretto to name a few.

After seeing the uplifting Buena Vista Social Club musical theater show tribute on Broadway last year (I HIGHLY recommend seeing it if you haven’t already!), I knew it was time to get this exciting project started. 🙌

ARTIST SPOTLIGHT: Recently performing for the opening of the Brazil World Cup game in July, Bárbara Ádyla is one of those rare international talents who embody not just singing talent, but a positive, joyful musical energy and personality that is both captivating and uplifting to everyone who meets her or hears her sing. Classically trained in São Paulo, Brazil and now a proud Brazilian-American and busy working musician and teacher in the NYC/NJ area, Bárbara spent years embracing her cultural roots in Brazil while studying the art of Bossa Nova & Samba music and proving when she came to the U.S. that she is completely comfortable singing American and Brazilian Pop and Classic Rock favorites in wedding bands and small clubs and restaurants as she is swaying to a soothing bossa nova melody. From the soft embrace and elegant sway of a Jobim classic to the understated power of global Pop icons like Anitta and Shakira, Bárbara delights audiences with her captivating and masterful interpretations of the classics and music of today.
Have you heard the Bossa Nova style single I wrote and produced that we recorded last year called “Until The End of Time”? (Link below.) With more new music coming out this Fall, Bárbara is already on our way to becoming that well-respected artist fans want to hear more and more from in the future.

ARTIST SPOTLIGHT: Zach Morgan is part of today’s young, singer-songwriter revival of Americana & Country with Folk music roots. Having recently retired honorably from the U.S. Army, Zach (now residing in the Greater Boston, MA area), discovered his knack for songwriting and performing while traveling abroad in service to his country. His songs speak of those travels and a yearning for home; that stability we all desire in life in an ever-changing and chaotic world. Drawing inspiration from literature, travel, and tales of old, Zach leaves an everlasting impression with his listeners who yearn for more of the sounds that built the younger careers of the likes of Bob Dylan, Merle Haggard, John Prine, and Bruce Springsteen with modern callings to Jason Isbel, Noah Kahan, and Billy Strings. Zach Morgan’s new, anticipated, and long-awaited EP is scheduled to be released soon.
