World Mental Health Day is this Saturday, and the workplace angle isn't a footnote to that conversation, it's a big part of it. Burnout doesn't clock out because you found a new job, and a new job doesn't fix it either if the pace never changes. If you're navigating a hard stretch right now, take the break, make the call, ask for the accommodation. Your work will still be there. Your wellbeing has to come first for any of it to hold up.

The people who answer the phone when a shift falls through at 5am. Who track down one more candidate when a client needs ten and only has eight. Who remember your name after one conversation. This is Customer Service Week, and ours don't get nearly enough credit for the fires they put out before you ever hear about them. Thank you for being the reason people keep calling us back.

Worker confidence improved in August. The bigger picture remains complicated.

’s Employee Confidence Index edged higher after reaching a record low in July, but concerns about layoffs, job security, and AI continue to shape how employees view the future. And like the labor market itself, confidence varies considerably by industry and career level.

AI can help employers find the needle in the applicant haystack. But it can also screen it out. As application volumes surge, employers are increasingly relying on AI and automated tools to identify candidates efficiently. The risk is allowing efficiency to become the only objective.

Candidates with transferable skills, unconventional backgrounds, or untapped potential may not always fit predefined criteria which makes human judgment an essential part of an AI-enabled hiring process.
