Description
Under direct supervision performs unskilled to semi-skilled work pertaining to the maintenance of Parks and sports fields throughout the City.

Examples of Duties
Perform a variety of tasks using various hand and power tools in the establishment and maintenance of grounds, landscape plantings and their confinements. May operate more complex equipment with the proper training or under supervision.

Plant, maintain, rehabilitate, and construct landscape areas and features throughout park and municipal landscapes.

Use push, self-propelled and riding mowers, string trimmers, and backpack blowers to maintain grounds.

Collect and remove litter and trash from parks; clean paths, planting beds, fountains, and lots.

Prepare facilities before special events and maintain throughout the event.

Paint equipment and structures as needed.

Drive pickup trucks, motorized carts, riding mowers, tractors, field groomers and small dump trucks.

Repair or replace stone, brick, timber, or other edgings and retaining walls.

Install new plantings and remove old ones; use augers, post-hole diggers, shovels and rakes, tractors.

Assist with clearing storm damage and cleaning flooded areas.

Be personable and responsive with the public.

Other duties as assigned.

Typical Qualifications
Applicants must be a minimum of 16 years old by the date they begin work.

Applicants must possess at the time of interview, or verify the ability to acquire by the date work is scheduled to begin, a valid and unencumbered driver's license to become and to remain employed.

All applicants are required to pass a background check before hire. Substance screenings are required of all applicants who were not employed the previous year.

Requires the ability to operate and use hand and power tools normally associated with maintenance work.

Requires the ability to understand and follow oral and written English instructions.

Requires the ability to perform assigned work tasks in a variety of weather conditions.

Members of the Horticulture Crew will work together as both large and small teams and/or may be assigned to specific areas of responsibility as needed.

Requires the ability to operate and use hand and power tools normally associated with grounds maintenance, landscape work and Sports Field Maintenance.

Requires the ability to understand and follow oral and written English instructions.

Requires the ability to perform assigned work tasks in a variety of weather conditions.

Members of the Maintenance Crew will work together as both large and small teams and/or may be assigned to specific areas of responsibility as needed.

Supplemental Information
This work requires the ability to tolerate extremes of weather and conditions commonly found working in the out of doors. The successful applicant will perform frequent standing, walking, climbing, bending, stooping, reaching, pulling, pushing, and squatting. Lifting of up to 50 pounds repeatedly may be required. Normal hearing, the ability to speak, and depth perception is required.

The Seasonal Work period is expected to begin the first part of March and end mid-to-late October. Employees will be hired on the basis of experience, abilities, availability, an in-person interview, and their ability to fulfill the work period requirement.

We are looking for laborers to assist in production. The duties will consist of picking and sorting different metals. The work is fast paced and requires being on your feet for 10-12 hour shifts. We have openings on 1st and 2nd shift. The hours are:

1st shift: Monday- Friday, 5:30am-6pm
2nd shift: Monday-Friday 5:30pm-6am

Plenty of OT available!

Starting pay: $15/hour.
Overtime Pay: $22.50/hour

The welder/fabricator uses hand/power tools and operates welding equipment to fabricate and weld components.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Experience with MIG welding
• Good mechanical skills
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Basic math skills
• Ability to read, understand, and follow blueprints
• Ability to read, write, and follow verbal and written instructions in English
• Self-starter with the ability to work independently
• Ability to pass AWSD 1.1 welding test

Duties include:

• Reads and analyzes blueprints to plan layout, assembly and welding operations
• Cuts materials for use in fabricating
• Lays out, positions, and secures parts and assemblies according to specifications, using straightedge, combination square, calipers, tape measure, ruler, fixtures, and jigs
• Tack welds and welds components
• Cleans and inspects all welds
• Inspects and measures all fabricated parts for accuracy
• Participates in training and continuing education as required.

Monday-Friday 8am-4:30pm

Starting Pay: $18-$19/hr

Main Responsibilities:

The Cylinder Prep and Assembler assembles cylinders per blueprint specifications, performs repairs

on serviceable cylinders, communicates with co-workers regarding productions runs, and maintains

a safe, organized, and clean work environment.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent
Minimum of one year related experience in a manufacturing environment
Forklift truck driving experience
Ability to read and write English, follow verbal and written instructions, and use simple math
Duties include:

Assembles cylinders per blueprint specifications.
Detects and reports defective materials or questionable conditions to department supervisor.
Performs inspection of machined products using micrometers, calipers and other measuring
tools, and documents results as required.
Tests cylinders per company specifications.
Assists in other work areas to perform fabrication, and load and unload trucks
Operates forklift trucks and overhead cranes to convey, move, or hoist materials

Normal Hours: 8:00 am - 4:30 pm, M-F
Starting Pay: $18/hour

*******Machine/Grinder Operator*******

Main Responsibilities:
This position operates a hone and/or a centerless grinder to fabricate parts according to blueprints. The operator loads parts in the machine, cycles machine, and detects malfunctions in machine operations, such as worn or damaged cutting tools. The position runs production lots, communicates with co-workers regarding productions runs, and maintains a safe, organized and clean work environment.

Duties include:
• Monitors feed and speed of machines during the machining process.
• Detects and reports defective materials or questionable conditions to management or designee.
• Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition.
• Machines parts to blueprint specifications using machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, grinders, and hones.
• Performs inspection of machined products and documents results as required.
• Assists in other work areas to perform fabrication and load and unload trucks.
• Operates forklifts and overhead cranes to convey, move, or hoist materials.
• Complies with OSHA safety and health rules and must be able to wear job-site specific personal protective equipment.
• Ensures a full understanding of the Quality and Procedures Manuals in support of the company’s continued registration to ISO 9001.
• Participates in mandatory training and continuing education as required to maintain compliance.

Main Responsibilities:

The shipping and receiving clerk position verifies and keeps records on incoming and outgoing shipments, prepares items for shipment, and makes deliveries as needed by performing the following duties to quality and productivity standards.

Duties include:

Packages and readies loads for shipping as instructed
Loads and unloads trucks as instructed
Unpacks, examines, and routes incoming shipments
Detects and reports defective materials or questionable conditions to management
Completes and maintains paperwork for required
Operates forklift trucks and overhead cranes to convey, move, or hoist materials

Physical Demands
