Each one degrades the three things a person needs to stay alive on a jobsite: reaction time, situational awareness, and judgment under pressure.

Your hazard log tracks conditions. It doesn't track the state of the person walking into them.

The call came in for a Hydrogen Production Unit in California. Overnight operations.

They needed general labor, escorts and flaggers, and custodial. Every union requirement and facility access protocol accounted for. Immediately.
Hydrogen production isn't a standard industrial floor. The hazards are specific, the access rules are strict, and there's no window to bring someone up to speed.

It's day two of a restoration push.

A contract crew staged to work a line the utility had already de-energized and cleared.

Our placed safety tech walked the span before the briefing. The tag matched the switching order. But the span didn't. Backfeed from a customer-owned generator two poles down, hooked up during the outage and was never disclosed.

He stopped the job and made them prove the line was dead before anyone touched it.

Nothing happened. But that's exactly the point.

He caught it because he'd worked restorations before.

Experience isn't a line on a resume. It's knowing where to look before anyone tells you.
