The Renesting Project will hold its largest annual fundraiser.
Themed “No Place Like Home,” the event is to raise money in support of the nonprofit organization’s efforts to provide furniture and household essentials to individuals and families across Northwest Louisiana.

Renest Fest will feature entertainment, auctions and games. Dallas band Big D Energy is scheduled to perform, and attendees will have opportunities to win tickets to an Ed Sheeran concert. The event also will include silent and live auctions.

The Renesting Project operates a furniture bank and works with more than 60 partner agencies throughout Northwest Louisiana. The organization provides furniture and household items to veterans, young people aging out of foster care, survivors of violence and disasters, and families rebuilding after crises.

The organization is seeking sponsors, auction item donors and community partners for the 2026 fundraiser.

House Delays Action on Omnibus Veterans Package:
House leadership postponed consideration of the Take Care of America’s Veterans Act (TCAVA) on July 16 after pulling the bill (H.R. 9237) from the floor before a final vote.

The legislation would secure several long-standing priorities, including relief for combat-injured retirees, expanded support for military caregivers, and protections for surviving spouses.

Much of the recent debate has centered on language that would codify VA’s proposed changes to disability ratings for sleep apnea and tinnitus. VA officials already testified before Congress that these changes would be implemented before the end of the fiscal year. Subsequent reporting indicates the proposed changes are under review with no effort to rescind the rule and indicates the VA plans to move forward with the revised rating schedule-[regardless of the TCAVA legislation funding issue].
