Description of Duties and Job Responsibilities

* Layout, position, and secure parts and assemblies according to specifications
* Determine required equipment, welding method and welding techniques
* Develop templates and other work aids to hold and align parts
* Ignite torch and adjust valves, amperage, or voltage to obtain desired flame or arc
* Tack-weld or weld components and assemblies
* Weld components in flat, vertical or overhead positions
* Remove rough spots from pieces using portable grinder
* Inspect grooves, angles or gap allowances using micrometer, caliper and precision measuring

* Follow blueprints to arrange pieces and temporarily fix them into position before welding
* Make recommendations for process improvements
* Perform equipment inspections prior to use, and report any malfunctions or safety concern
* Work accordingly to meet Safety and Quality goals

* Manage company resources to ensure budgetary integrity and client satisfaction
* Deburr and grind metal as necessary to achieve proper surface texture
