even jesus got this wrong at first. he asked for a raise because rent went up and got laughed out of the room.

so he changed his approach. he tracked his wins, researched market rates, and picked the right timing.

a job posting asks for full availability and pays what it pays. people see that and call it insane. they are right.

now look at your own deal. senior manager, solid six figures, phone on at dinner, slack open on sunday. the raise comes once a year and it is around 3%. coffee doubled. your availability did not change one bit.

the part that stings is how one sided it is. you give all of your hours to one company, and one email can end the whole thing. the average person spends 5.5 months finding the next role and burns about $55k in savings in the meantime.

so the useful question is what else your hours could be earning while you still deliver everything you already deliver. most senior work gets done in 25 good hours once you run it with ai and real delegation.
