The Voices for Intellectual Independence Society (VII) is an organization that was founded on the belief that free thinking individuals throughout the world have the right to freely contemplate and express themselves. We challenge the general public to take time out of their day to observe important subject matters that bear relevance to an average human life. We believe that an enlightened inner
consciousness enables an individual, social community, and national population to effectively influence the affairs that have a direct impact on our everyday lives. The main idea of the organization is deliberately kept abstract for the retained belief that the activities of this society can take on multiple forms of life. The spirit and essence of free and independent intellectualism is just another way to describe those who dare to think for themselves. In turn, we encourage our members, affiliates, and casual observers to write about various issues, comment on existing postings, reflect on past literary readings, and propose new initiatives that can enhance the intellectual consciousness of our fellow man. Currently, our organization is still in its infancy and the world press domain exists as our official website at the time being. Within the not too distant future, we will be establishing methods that can create a form of organizational capital which will enable us to initiate humanitarian and environmentalist activities (our vision of affirmative action). The specifics for these details have been established, but the exact facts and figures are still outstanding. At the moment, we seek to enhance our base of public support and membership while extending word of our existence towards the rest of the international community. We have arrived to the realization that mediums of information technology have empowered mankind to explore the deepest depths of human individuality. In particular, the resource of the internet can be utilized for extremely positive and negative purposes alike. The forces of globalization that have descended on every corner of the planet is actively promoting a shallow sense of consumer minded materialism which is alarmingly consuming our environmental and human resources. In turn, we equally confirm that we now live in an age where we reward arrogance, ignorance, and outright stupidity, but we fail to extend the same gestures to intellectual ingenuity and gestures that articulate independent free thinking. Commonly, every idea requires public support, finances, and the will to follow through with the underlying objective. This realization is no different from what the VII society requires from the general public. We can only succeed if the organization is commonly acknowledged as a significant force that is inspired by the sincere display of integrity from its own members and supporters. As Mahatma Gandhi had stated during his illustrious political career as an Indian statesman: “be the change that you wish to see implemented in your surroundings.” The significance of this quote is no different from the main drive that should provoke affirmative action from the deepest depths of our own organization. Let us work together and approach the future with a profound sense of optimism.
