Next week I will celebrate 18 years in business, so I think it is a good time to share some exciting updates.

1. My new website has launched! Please visit www.hudsonrivercareers.com and share your feedback. A thanks to Angelica Hesse with Yellow Pants Studio, who has been with me since 2003 when she developed my logo (which I will love forever).

2. I have FIVE positions open! Three in HR, one in sales, and an Executive Chef in Florida with the best restaurant you'll ever visit. I have filled three positions in 2021 already, which I mention to give all of you a sense of optimism and hope for the job market.

3. The year has already been packed with a webinar, an upcoming HR panel, and several new contracts for outplacement services. I am super grateful to be working hard. loving what I do, and meeting/reconnecting with so many people.

If you know anyone who is searching for a new opportunity, hiring, needs a resume written or would benefit from career consulting, please share my website address or contact info.
Finally, I welcome you to follow this page, and my LinkedIn page to stay connected. Thank you!

At this point in the quarantine, we are starting to reflect on what is important to us in our personal and professional lives. When this all lifts and we return to a new normal, you might decide to make a professional shift. You may realize that working from home is great, or you may miss your workplace. You might decide to make a career change, or consider a move to a new employer.

There ARE positions open right now, so carve out just a little time to check out what opportunities are out there. Some companies are shifting their product focus (particularly manufacturing), resulting in a strengthening and expansion of employees' skill sets. The changes help companies realize how versatile they can really be and what they are capable of creating.

Employers will also realize that a virtual workplace may be working better than they ever thought, which could create another shift in how they hire, operate and manage their teams.

Take this time to look at your resume and consider an update.
Think about your real motivators, what you have accomplished over the past few years, what elements of your position you love, and what you can do without.

I have remained happily busy with new clients, and do have time to take on a few more projects. If you, or someone you know needs assistance with a resume, or anything related to their career search, I would be happy to connect.

Once our economy strengthens again, I am very hopeful that opportunities will be plentiful for everyone.

Well, life is changing every hour! With the shifts, adjustments and sacrifices businesses, employers and employees are experiencing, it doesn’t mean that we cannot continue looking forward and planning for brighter times in the near future.

For those of you who are seeking new career opportunities, don’t let this slow you down. Much of the effort you put into a job search is already done virtually, so keep it up. What will change is how interviews are conducted – you will likely be interviewing via Skype or Zoom over the next few weeks. Now is a great time to set up, test connectivity, and even practice. Be sure all settings are accurate, volume is appropriate, and think about your surroundings/background as you prepare.

If you are thinking that now might be a good time to start your search, we are accessible, available and ready to support you! If you need assistance with anything related to your search – resumes, cover letters, LinkedIn, interview prep, or strategy assistance, please contact us. We can work together virtually, use online collaboration tools and conduct phone or online meetings.

Employers, we understand that your business may be impacted in many ways. If you are experiencing a change in staffing needs or planning organizational modifications, we will continue to support you.

This can be a lonely time for many of us, so we will be more active on this page to keep us all engaged and supported! If you have any suggestions, feedback or information, please share!

Sincerely,

Alison

Owner/President

In March 2003 I started Hudson River Career Resources, focusing on direct hire recruitment, resume writing, outplacement and career consulting. My recruitment expertise is across most industries, at all levels of an organization. I have prior experience as the Corporate Recruitment Manager for a major Albany employer, and as a technical recruiter for a national consulting firm. In addition to Hudson River Career Resources, I co-established a second recruiting firm which includes temporary placement.

I welcome anyone looking for a new opportunity to contact me. I also look forward to connecting and reconnecting with candidates, clients and colleagues.
