Projects often begin with clearly defined objectives and planned deliverables. Yet their true value sometimes becomes visible only when they grow beyond their original scope.

One inspiring example comes from the project roundtable in Estonia. During the webinar, a participant openly shared her personal challenges in accessing employment. The discussion that followed did more than simply identify barriers, it created space for practical ideas, encouragement, and new perspectives.

Monika’s powerful story particularly resonated with the audience. What began as a contribution to a roundtable discussion evolved into something bigger. Her experience was later explored in the podcast Töökullid, a programme dedicated to real-life questions of occupational health and safety.

While Monika's story is still in progress. This is the kind of impact we hope for: when dialogue leads to visibility, visibility leads to reflection, and reflection leads to wider conversations. Meaningful change often starts with one honest story.

As our ErgoArt journey is approaching its final phase, the work is far from over. In many ways, this is the most important stage.

We are now focusing on ensuring that everything we have developed does not remain just a project output, but becomes something that is used, maintained, and further developed after the project officially ends. Here transferability and sustainability are key. The materials must live beyond the funding period and continue to support educators, employers and future leaders in creating inclusive and ergonomically sound workplaces.

One of the biggest practical challenges we are currently tackling is language.

All materials were developed jointly in English to enable collaboration across countries. Now comes the complex task of translating them into the native languages of each partner. And this is not just about direct translation. In several cases, relevant terminology simply does not exist in the local language, especially in the intersection of ergonomics, accessibility and inclusive workplace design.

This means real brainstorming sessions:
How do we express a concept accurately?
How do we stay faithful to the original meaning while making it culturally and professionally relevant?
How do we avoid creating terms that sound artificial or stigmatizing?

Language shapes understanding. And understanding shapes attitudes.

This final stage reminds us that building inclusive workplaces is not only about design tools and teaching materials. It is also about developing shared vocabulary, shared meaning and shared commitment across different contexts.

The project may be approaching its formal end, but the real impact begins now.

Yesterday, the Estonian team of the ErgoArt project held a roundtable with accessibility experts titled “Tulevaste juhtide ettevalmistamine kaasava töökeskkonna loomiseks” (Preparing future leaders to create an inclusive work environment).

The discussion focused on current accessibility issues in Estonia and on how higher education can better engage students to develop supportive attitudes toward inclusive and accessible workplaces. Alongside ErgoArt team members Märt, Jaano and Epp, the roundtable brought together employers’ advisor Tom Rüütel from Estonian Unemployment Insurance Fund and accessibility testers, advisors and trainers Jakob and Maarja Rosin from Ligipääsuke. In addition to those around the table, participants also joined the discussion online.

One clear lesson from broadcasting the roundtable was that accessibility solutions need context awareness. While automatic closed captions can significantly improve access, speech recognition quality in smaller languages, such as Estonian, still often falls short of the standards seen in widely spoken languages. Inclusive communication is not only about using tools, but about understanding their limits and continuously improving them.
