Soldiers For Peace We're disarming toy soldiers and turning them into Soldiers For Peace. September 21 is Peace Day. The problem is that not enough people know about Peace Day.

We're recruiting ordinary citizens and turning them into an elite peace-making corp for a better world. In 2001, the United Nations unanimously agreed to set aside a day of global ceasefire and non-violence. This was the culmination of efforts led by non-profit organisation Peace One Day, which seeks to institutionalize the day and make it self-sustaining like Mother’s Day and Earth Day. Some are

cynical, while others think it’s hippie talk. The truth is that Peace Day has created a window of opportunity for aid organisations to bring their life-saving efforts to areas that were otherwise unreachable because of conflict. Since 2007, World Peace Day in Afghanistan has allowed 4.5 million children to receive polio vaccinations. You may not be living in an area of conflict, but remember that peace is not a given. Join us in our fight for peace. You don’t need to be able to do a one arm pull up to do your bit.

Meet General Michael Callahan from 28 HongKong Street. For Peace Day, Michael put together "The Short-Timer", a cocktail that pays homage to the tiki generation of drinks popularized by the soldiers returning from the pacific campaign after WWII. The drink is strong but remarkably lighthearted and easy to drink. The soldiers were keen to forget the horrors of war but longed for the beauty of the tropical isles that they had visited while being deployed.

Get a taste of The Short Timer at 28 HongKong Street today (Peace Day) and tomorrow (22 September).

There's some great 3D printing going on with 3D Matters and our Peace Soldiers down at SMU today. We'll be there till tomorrow at The Concourse (B1 – next to the food court). We had overwhelming response today and limited slots so come early tomorrow!
