Amur tiger walked out on highway near the borders of the “Land of the Leopard”!
The rare shot of Amur tiger was obtained by a car enthusiast who was driving along the borders of the “Land of the Leopard”. The specialists of the national park investigated the footage sent over by the witness and concluded that the predator’s behavior provides no issues for concern.
The footage was taken at highway of the central part of the national park. Wild animal tried to cross the road when it was taken aback. Stopped on the roadside, the predator anxiously observed the human who was hailing from the car, and then hurried to disappear into forest. The footage-maker was apparently excited to meet the Red Book cat. He passionately filmed all that was happening on a mobile phone camera, accompanying action with enthusiastic comments and requests for “smile” from the animal.
Thanks to this shot, the employees of the “Land of the Leopard” were able to identify the individual. The comparison of a pattern of stripes on skin with patterns from all known tigers in the national park has shown that it was the young female T 6F, who was met by human. Previously she has been already registered via photomonitoring in the national park.
According to specialists, the tigress acted totally reasonable, reacting to human voice and trying to carefully hide from view.

On the photo for the first time: at once three leopards from one litter become adults!
The specialists of the “Land of the Leopard” have registered an intriguing case. For the first time in
observational history of Amur leopards they managed to obtain the photo of kittens from family with
many cubs, all of which have survived and turned to adulthood. The heroic mother, female Leo 37F
named Umka, have succeeded to raise three cubs at once.
New data were obtained in the national park via the photomonitoring network. Around 400 trail cameras
are used to observe the life of rarest large cats in the world. Some years ago the pictures of female with
three half-year-old kittens were obtained, which on its own account was a pretty rare thing. And now the
recent check of cameras have brought a pleasant surprise again.
In wildlife not many of animal cubs, including predators, survive, so these pictures are really unique. The
life of young animals is highly hazardous. Even a nurturance of experienced mother does not ensure the
preservation of overall leopard litter. But Umka mastered maternal responsibilities: she procured food,
defended litter from enemies and taught it all necessary for survival things. Following that, the grown
kittens have successfully dealt with challenges of the most dangerous period – the beginning of
independent life.

The first photo of nursing Amur leopardess! The specialists of the “Land of the Leopard” for the first time ever managed to capture the Amur leopardess nursing her cubs in the wild. The researchers were especially interested in the age of the young cubs still feeding on their mother’s milk.
The leopardess caught on trail camera is Leo 120F, daughter of leopardess named Pamela (Leo 38F), accompanied by her two cubs. The unique photos depict the family quietly relaxing in the sanctuary forest for several hours. The leopardess shows parental care by tenderly licking her cubs, even when one of them is trying to attach itself to the mother’s teat.
The cubs on the photo are about six months old – this is just about the time when young leopards completely stop feeding on the mother’s milk. By this time, their main food is meat procured by their mother’s hunt. And still, at the time of family relaxation, mama leopard allowed her grown-up cub to get some milk. The reasons were the relaxed state and good physique of the predatoress.

😸 Meet Amur leopard Leo 91M! 😸
This is still the nameless male, who recently began his adult life. Now he is about 3 years old. We met this leopard in 2016, when he was just a teenager, now he is sending his "regards" in the form of new pictures two times in each year. From a young man Leo 91M turned into a serious male - true owner of his territory 🐆💪 Now he probably chooses a bride 💕

An Amur leopard cub, his mother and possible father were caught on camera in the same area of the Kedrovaya Pad Nature Reserve for the first time. The mother is the unnamed Leo 120F, a daughter of the leopardess Pamela.

This was recorded from an observation point at the reserve shows the cub first. He examines a small hill, looks around and swiftly runs away. From the way the leaves rustle, it is clear that his mother is close by, but she appears in front of the camera only an hour later. She sniffs the ground and soon goes away. And, finally, the camera spots a male leopard. Land of the Leopard employees recognised him as Typhoon, the master of Kedrovaya Pad.

"Kedrovaya Pad is no larger than a male Far Eastern leopard's home range. As of today, Typhoon is the only male leopard living here, while females' home ranges can overlap, with three or four leopardesses living here, at the reserve. This time, we were lucky to find out that there is another cat family at Kedrovaya Pad: this is a truly joyful event!" said Yevgenia Bisikalova, deputy director for research at Land of the Leopard.

Since Typhoon is the only male leopard in the area, researchers believe he fathered Leo 120F's cub. There is also another leopardess called Bary living in the nature reserve. She was seen with Typhoon several times; these encounters resulted in two cubs that were first recorded last spring.

50 salt licks to appear at Leopard Land! We were putting out salt for hoofed animals since April, with 50 salt licks to be in place by the end of May. A total of 10 tonnes of large-grained salt purchased for these biotechnical purposes will be distributed in clay soil areas throughout the national park.

After dissolving in water and permeating the soil, salt will be a welcome treat for ungulates. These animals need salt for proper horn formation. Deer and sika deer antlers start growing in spring.

One of the salt licks during the latest spring feeding campaign was made by the press secretaries of nature reserves and representatives of major Russian media as part of a special seminar for the press services of protected areas, held at Land of the Leopard from 21 to 25 May.

Female Amur leopard injured by poachers gave birth to young ones! Trail cameras in the National Park “Land of the Leopard” registered an unexpected recruitment to a family of rarest feline animals listed in Red Book. The camera captured Aleksa, an Amur female leopard miraculously surviving after being caught in a trap set by poachers in China, with a cub.

The spotted predator under the number of Leo 27F was caught in a metallic snare trap in 2014 when it left its homeland and crossed the Russia-China border. This sharp hunting gear inflicted it a bleeding wound. When the “Land of the Leopard” specialists saw it on pictures taken by trail cameras, they were sure there was no chance for its survival.

However, in 2016 the injured leopardess was registered by cameras again and this time with two cubs.

So, Aleksa was lucky to release itself from the deadly grip of the snare trap receiving a large scar, find a mating partner and give birth to cubs. Demonstrating such strong will to live, it became of focus of researchers’ close attention.

An important question was outstanding – whether that injury will affect Leo 27F’s health and hunting skills and whether it will be able to provide feed for its offspring.

All doubts were dispelled during the last check of trail cameras. It turned out that Aleksa had given birth to another Amur leopard cub. The automatic camera shows how the leopardess guides its new cub across the reserved forest and that the cub is in excellent condition as well as its mother.
