Some people don’t just do their job, they live it. They pour heart, patience, and kindness into every detail. This is Denisa, our beloved Baker for over 18 years. A modest, open, warm soul, so warm that her colleagues affectionately call her “mama.”
For Denisa, baking is more than a skill. It’s a calling. She studied this craft professionally, and as she beautifully says, “the profession chose me.” Her very first job became her lifelong passion. On board, she prepares everything from scratch, from delicate doughs to rustic breads. Everything is pure craftsmanship. Puff pastry, she admits, is the most challenging. But Denisa has a gift: she makes the impossible possible and delivers perfection.
For her, bread is not just flour and water. It’s technique, intuition, and respect for the process. Flour and yeast are the heart of everything. Everything on board is freshly baked for the day, she uses a mixer only for kneading, the rest is done by hand, with care. Every day, guests and crew enjoy something fresh, fragrant, and made with love.
Her advice for new joiners is simple and full of kindness: “Believe in yourself. You learn along the way.” She knows that beginnings can be intimidating, but she also knows that passion and patience build confidence.
When she’s not working, Denisa loves long walks, and social moments with colleagues. Always curious, always eager to learn, always ready to connect.
She loves the entire western route — from Romania all the way to Switzerland, along the Danube, Main and the Rhine. But if she had to choose one place that speaks to her heart, it would be Vienna. Elegant, calm, full of history — just like her gentle spirit.
