Things you should never do at a job interview ⬇
👉 Bad-mouthing the previous company. Rightly or wrongly, this will generate mistrust in the new employer;
👉 Overly informal communication. While the interview shouldn‘t be overly formal, it‘s important to strike a balance. You should adapt your communication style to the interviewer, ensuring that it is respectful and appropriate. Remember, familiarity should not lead to complacency;
👉 Bring up the salary issue at the wrong time. Both sides know it‘s a fundamental topic, so there‘s no point in bringing it up at the outset or showing excessive concern about it. There is a right time for this;
👉 Failure to prepare for the interview. It‘s important to prepare thoroughly. The interview is a moment where you have limited time to convey who you are and whether you‘re a good fit for the role. Being honest and transparent about your skills and experience will allow both you and the interviewer to assess whether the role is a good fit. Don‘t exaggerate or undersell yourself, instead, come prepared with concrete examples of your skills;
👉 Maintain poor visual and vocal communication. Always looking people in the eye, maintaining good body posture and projecting your voice without fear are ways of showing respect for the interviewer and confidence in the message you want to convey.
