Why is shopping on Sunday so complicated in Poland? 🇵🇱🛒

If you’re new to Poland, you might be surprised when you walk to your favourite shop on Sunday… and it’s closed. 😭

That’s because Poland has restrictions on Sunday trading.

Most large shops and supermarkets cannot operate on most Sundays, although there are specific trading Sundays during the year and some businesses are exempt from the restrictions.

So before planning your big Sunday grocery run, check whether it’s a trading Sunday. 👀

What can still be open?

🥐 Some bakeries
💊 Pharmacies
⛽ Petrol stations
🍔 Restaurants and cafés
🏪 Some small shops, depending on who operates them

The easiest rule to remember?

Sunday ≠ automatically a shopping day in Poland. 😄

Save this for your next Sunday in Poland! 🇵🇱
