Seimas of Poland approved the project of fencing on the border with Belarus
The lower house of the Polish parliament approved a draft law on the construction of a fence on the border with Belarus to protect against illegal migration.
According to preliminary data, the construction will cost PLN 1.615 billion (over $ 400 million).

Now the law will be sent to the upper house of parliament.

Earlier, Polish border guards recorded a record number of illegal migrants who tried to enter the country from Belarus.

Poland beckons workers with ease of employment, Czech Republic - with earnings
Despite the coronavirus pandemic, many European economies are already in need of new working hands. And if the largest economy of the European Union - Germany - has not yet opened up to workers from Eastern Europe, Poland and the Czech Republic, thanks to favorable procedures, have been massively employing Ukrainian citizens for a decade.
As noted in the article, both in the Czech Republic and in Poland, unemployment remains at a fairly low level. Both countries lack industrial and construction workers, warehouse workers, welders and locksmiths. After the partial lifting of quarantine and the restoration of the work of hotels and restaurants, a shortage of labor is felt in the service sector.
In contrast to Poland, in the Czech Republic, the legalization of employment and the submission of documents is primarily the responsibility of the employee, not the employer.

Coronavirus pandemic did not stop labor migration to Poland
On March 13, 2020, in connection with the coronavirus pandemic, an emergency regime was introduced in Poland and the borders were closed, which almost completely stopped labor migration. According to the General Statistical Office, in the first two months of the lockdown, the number of foreigners in Poland decreased by 223 thousand.

A month after the outbreak of the epidemic, in April 2020, the Institute for Eastern European Studies at the University of Warsaw launched a sociological study "Economic migrants in the era of a pandemic." Its results confirmed the stability of the migration flow: the overwhelming majority of respondents, 89%, had planned this trip even before the introduction of the state of emergency in Poland (03/13/2020), and the coronavirus did not disrupt these plans. More than half (55.4%) of migrants came because of higher earnings than at home, and every ninth - in connection with the loss of work in their country due to anti-epidemic restrictions.

Similar restrictions were introduced in Poland and affected not only foreigners working here, but also Polish citizens. However, migrants suffered in the first place: 26.6% of them were forced to look for work in another industry; for 60.6%, the pandemic meant a reduction in the number of hours worked by the employer and, accordingly, a decrease in earnings; every fifth (21.2%) - moved in search of work to another city / area. 57.8% of migrants were most afraid of losing their jobs.

The second stage of the study took place in September-October 2020. The survey showed that the overwhelming majority of labor migrants (85%) consider their decision not to return to their homeland to be correct. The main reason is the ability to work and earn money even during the epidemic (55%). It can be assumed that the mood of migrants was also influenced by the change in the situation on the labor market, which led to an increase in the demand for labor. If at the very beginning of the pandemic, when some enterprises and firms ceased their activities, it was not difficult to find a new foreign worker, then by the fall, when enterprises began to restore their previous production volumes, and farmers were preparing for seasonal work, the shortage of migrants became tangible, and opportunities for its replenishment due to the arrival of new migrants was blocked. With the growing demand for migrant labor, 39% of the respondents changed their place of work, 32.3% of the respondents, and more than 30% moved to another region of the country. It is important to note that if in April half of the respondents were afraid of losing their jobs, then in the fall such fears became relatively less widespread: every third migrant (36%) said about their fear of losing their jobs. It is noteworthy that such fears were more widespread among Poles: 63.3% of the employed were afraid of being unemployed.

Seasonal work in Poland is picking strawberries and other crops that arise at a specific time when the harvest is ripe. This is an opportunity to earn some money and buy what you have been dreaming about for a long time :)

The duration of seasonal work is predetermined and must be negotiated when applying for a visa. However, not only time, but also the amount of labor required can determine the scope of work.

How much can you earn?
For picking strawberries, raspberries and blueberries, you can get about $ 1000-1200 per month. Some people earn $ 1600. You will have to work 9-12 hours a day with one day off a week.

Is it easy to find a job as a waiter in Poland in a restaurant
Work in Poland in a restaurant, and in general the entire gastronomic industry is perceived as a sector that creates a lot of employment.

There is an opinion that it is relatively easy to find a job as a waiter in a cafe and restaurant, but, unfortunately, most often this is the so-called gray area.

Usually young people are employed in restaurants, casual or employed in the form of seasonal work.

I'm talking primarily about bartenders, waiters, cook assistants, kitchens, etc.

The chef has many more opportunities for stable employment in the catering industry under an employment contract.

In the summer season, employment in gastronomy is the largest, but with it the number of people employed under an employment contract in this sector does not increase. So, you can imagine the specifics of work in the field of public catering.

The catering industry creates many job offers, usually seasonal.

Gdansk - the city of freedom and Solidarity

Gdansk is a city with more than a thousand years of history: its first mention as a city dates back to 997. The sea capital of Poland and one of the largest ports on the Baltic Sea, this city is unlike any other and has always been imbued with the spirit of freedom. The Latin dictum "Nec Temere, Nec Timide" ("Not with reckless courage, but also without timidity"), the motto of the City of Neptune, best conveys the character of Gdansk, once part of the Hansa - an economic union of European cities that existed from the 12th to the 17th century ...

Three 42-meter crosses with anchors - a monument to the Fallen Shipyard Workers, erected on Solidarity Square (plac Solidarności) next to the European Solidarity Center, an interactive museum whose exposition tells about the struggle of Poles for freedom. This is a story about the struggle against the communist regime, the hope and sacrifice made by the peoples who found themselves behind the Iron Curtain. Finally, this is the story of the victory that the Poles ultimately won, changing their own destiny and the destiny of the whole world. Here nearby, at the Gdansk shipyard (Stocznia Gdańska) in August 1980, the famous strike began, which soon “inflamed” the whole of Poland and forced the government of the People's Republic of Poland to make numerous concessions, including the legalization of the Independent Self-Governing Trade Union “Solidarity”. Gdansk residents have always been brave, proud of their city and appreciated independence.

The World War II Museum, which recently added to the impressive list of tourist and educational sites on the map of Gdansk, presents one of the world's largest exhibitions dedicated to the bloody conflict. The central exposition is located underground at a depth of fourteen meters and tells, in particular, about the heroes of Westerplatte and the Polish Post in Gdansk, who were the first to heroically repulse the N**i invaders. Museum visitors will see the terrible history of the war through the eyes of the peoples of different countries of the world.
