# # # The Largest Shrimp Farming Pilot Project in the History of Pakistan
Chief Minister of Punjab, Maryam Nawaz Sharif, will visit the shrimp farming pilot project located in the suburban area of Jhallayarn North, Muzaffargarh, today.
The shrimp farming pilot project, under the supervision of the Punjab Fisheries Department, has been completed in a record time of two months.
The first yield from the Jhallayarn North Shrimp Farming Pilot Project will be ready by October.
The 100-acre shrimp farming pilot project will produce 100 metric tons of shrimp.
This project will provide employment opportunities to millions of people, and over the next ten years, 20,000 individuals will gain employment.
Under the supervision of Senior Minister Maryam Aurangzeb, the target has been set to expand the shrimp aquaculture area in Punjab to 2,000 acres.
The goal is to increase the shrimp farming aquaculture area in Punjab to 4,750 acres.
With the promotion of shrimp farming, annual exports are expected to reach up to 50 million dollars, and over the next ten years, exports are projected to increase to 150 million dollars.
Under the Punjab Shrimp Farming Aquaculture Project, capacity building will be carried out for 600 farmers to achieve better production.
This initiative includes the establishment of Punjab's first **Aquaculture Research and Development Center**.
Punjab’s first **Aquaculture and Fisheries Center** will also be established as part of this project.
Non-arable and barren lands will be used for shrimp farming.
