The activity serves as a joint initiative of the๐’๐ฎ๐ซ๐ข๐ ๐š๐จ ๐Œ๐ž๐ญ๐ซ๐จ๐ฉ๐จ๐ฅ๐ข๐ญ๐š๐ง ๐–๐š๐ญ๐ž๐ซ ๐ƒ๐ข๐ฌ๐ญ๐ซ๐ข๐œ๐ญ (๐’๐Œ๐–๐ƒ and the ๐‹๐†๐” ๐จ๐Ÿ ๐’๐ฎ๐ซ๐ข๐ ๐š๐จ ๐‚๐ข๐ญ๐ฒ for the rehabilitation and restoration of the Cantalibong Dam Source as a vital augmentation source for the water supply system. This undertaking forms part of the short-term intervention measures of SMWD in response to the prevailing effects of the El Niรฑo phenomenon, which continues to cause reduced water availability, declining production from existing sources, and increasing demand for potable water within the city.

Moreover, the project highlights the commitment of both SMWD and the LGU to implement proactive and sustainable solutions in addressing the challenges brought about by climate-related events. Continuous monitoring, assessment, and proper management of the water source will also be undertaken to ensure the long-term sustainability, efficiency, and dependability of water service delivery for the residents of Surigao City.
