THE FILIPINO IS WORTH DYING FOR

40 years ago today, Ninoy Aquino's death on the Manila International Airport ramparts stirred the nation. Returning from years of US asylum, he chose to come home to the Philippines. In honor of his unwavering fight for democracy, the Philippine government designated August 21st as a Special Non-Working Holiday.

In another bid to push for the welfare and protection of BPO workers in the Philippines, another bill has been proposed in the halls of Congress.

HB 8733, or the proposed BPO Workers' Welfare and Protection Bill touched upon the most important concerns among BPO workers nationwide. Protection from discrimination, prohibitions against the elimination of benefits, and protection from understaffing or overloading are among the sections stipulated in the said bill.

Although the bill is not the first to be submitted, continued efforts to push for the welfare and protection of will always be a welcome development for all workers in the IT-BPM industry.
