Pinagmulta ng SEC ang Home Credit ng ₱50,000 dahil sa unfair debt collection practices matapos itong magsagawa ng collection activities sa tirahan ng isang third party na hindi naman nakasaad bilang guarantor o co-maker sa loan agreement.

Ayon sa SEC:

“The use of a third-party residence as a collection venue necessarily creates a substantial risk that the existence of the debt, the borrower's financial condition, or the fact of delinquency will become known to persons who have no lawful interest in the transaction.”

Nag-ugat ang desisyon sa reklamong inihain ng isang borrower na nagsabing ginamit ng Home Credit ang tirahan ng mga taong walang legal na kinalaman sa utang bilang lugar ng paniningil.

Kapag nasa ibang bansa ang mga pipirma sa isang dokumento, maaari silang magtungo sa pinakamalapit na consulate office upang magpatulong sa pag acknowledge ng kanilang dokumento. Maihahalintulad ito sa pagnonotaryo dito sa Pilipinas.

Kaya naman tinatawag na "Red Ribbon" ang mga dokumento tulad nito noon ay dahil sa pulang laso na ikinakabit sa dito.
