Ang kakulangan ng care workers sa Japan ay patuloy na lumalala dahil sa mabilis na pagdami ng matatandang nangangailangan ng pangangalaga habang kakaunti naman ang lokal na manggagawang pumapasok sa caregiving profession. Dahil dito, nahihirapan ang mga nursing homes at care centers na mapunan ang kanilang kakulangan sa staff.

Bilang solusyon, ang ilan ay kumukuha ng bodybuilders, MMA fighters, at sumo wrestlers bilang caregivers dahil sa kanilang lakas at kakayahang tumulong sa pagbubuhat, paglipat, at pag-alalay sa mga pasyente. Kasabay nito, mas pinalalawak din ng Japan ang pagtanggap ng foreign workers para masuportahan ang kanilang elderly care sector.

Malaki ang pangangailangan ng Japan sa mga Filipino care workers dahil kilala ang mga Pilipino sa malasakit, sipag, pasensya, at natural na pag-aalaga sa matatanda. Dahil dito, patuloy na nagbubukas ang Japan ng oportunidad para sa mga Pilipinong nais magkaroon ng stable na trabaho at magandang kinabukasan abroad.

In observance of the Day of Valor (𝐴𝑟𝑎𝑤 𝑛𝑔 𝐾𝑎𝑔𝑖𝑡𝑖𝑛𝑔𝑎𝑛), Thursday, April 9, 2026, is declared a Regular Holiday. This day marks the fall of Bataan in 1942 and honors the bravery and sacrifice of the Filipino heroes who fought for our freedom.

On this day (and everyday), we also take a moment to recognize our modern-day heroes—our Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs). Just like the heroes of the past, OFWs show incredible courage and resilience every day, making sacrifices by working far from home to support their families and contribute to the country’s growth.

Their stories remind us that heroism is not only found in history books, but also in the everyday efforts of Filipinos around the world.
