From Seed to Success: Building the Future of the Didipio Coffee Project

The Coffee Value Chain Benchmarking Activity successfully concluded today with learning visits to the Juliet Bumolo-Morales Coffee Farm in Poblacion, Kasibu, and the Cumila Coffee Farm in Capisaan.

The activity brought together the Didipio Progressive Multipurpose Cooperative (DPMPC), members of the Sangguniang Barangay, and was facilitated by OceanaGold (Philippines), Inc. It forms part of the preparations for the upcoming Didipio Coffee Project—a partnership among DPMPC, the Barangay LGU of Didipio, and OceanaGold (Philippines), Inc. The activity is funded through the Social Development and Management Program (SDMP).

Participants gained valuable knowledge on the entire coffee value chain—from farm establishment, proper planting techniques, and crop management to harvesting and post-harvest processing. Mrs. Juliet Bumolo-Morales generously shared her inspiring journey and practical experiences in developing a successful coffee farm, emphasizing that the project's success will depend on the participants' commitment, dedication, and passion for nurturing their own coffee plantations.

The benchmarking also provided hands-on exposure to quality coffee production, including the careful sorting of premium coffee beans from reject beans and the proper processing methods that ensure high-quality products.

At the Cumila Coffee Farm in Capisaan, participants witnessed how a modest coffee plantation that once produced only for family consumption has grown into a thriving livelihood, generating additional income through the sale of coffee beans. It served as a powerful reminder that with perseverance and proper management, small beginnings can lead to sustainable success.

The knowledge and inspiration gained from this benchmarking activity will help lay a strong foundation for the Didipio Coffee Project—a sustainable livelihood initiative that aims to empower the community and create lasting economic opportunities. More than just a project, it is envisioned as a meaningful legacy that the Didipio Mine will leave for the community beyond its mining operations.

Together, we are planting the seeds for a more sustainable and prosperous future—one coffee tree at a time. ☕🌱

Matagumpay na natapos ang isinagawang mid-year sectoral assessment na pinangunahan ng Community Development Team ng OceanaGold (Philippines), Inc. para sa mga programang pangkalusugan sa ilalim ng Social Development and Management Program (SDMP), katuwang ang Barangay LGU ng Didipio.

Nakilahok ang mga barangay health personnel, mga kinatawan mula sa Didipio Community Hospital (DCH), at ang chairman ng committee on Health na si Kag. Gideon Mores upang suriin ang progreso, at estado ng implementasyon ng mga programa at proyektong pangkalusugan at malaman ang mga hamong kinaharap. Gayundin na tinukoy ang mga hakbang na maaaring gawin upang masolusyonan ang mga hamong ito at mas mapabuti ang implementasyon sa hinaharap.

Source of Fund: Social Development and Management Program (SDMP) of OceanaGold (Philippines), Inc. Didipio Mine.
Project Cost: PhP4,850,051.51
Contractor: SIFU J Builders Corporation

Scope of works include: concreting of 2-lane FMR with curb and gutter, construction of grouted riprap slope protection and installation of RCPC.

Ang unti-unting pagsasaayos sa kalsadang ito ay malaking tulong para sa mga residente at magsasaka sa nasabing sitio na mailabas ang kanilang mga produktong agrikultura.

Tingnan: Magandang balita hindi lamang para sa mga Novo Vizcayanos at Quirinians kundi sa mamayan ng ating bansa. Sa kauna-unahang pagkakataon, ang OceanaGold Philippines Inc. ay nakapag-remit sa ating gobyerno ng 60% share nito mula sa kita (net revenue) sa Didipio Gold-Copper Project nitong Abril 23, 2024 na nagkakahalaga ng Php1.1 bilyong piso. Bukod pa ito sa buwis at iba pang fees o bayarin ng kumpanya sa gobyerno, mapa-lokal at nasyonal. Ito ay alinsunod sa mga tuntunin at kondisyong nakapaloob sa Financial or Technical Assistance Agreement o FTAA.

Ang OceanaGold ay kontraktor ng ating gobyerno-nasyonal para sa Didipio-Gold Copper project nito sa Barangay Didipio, Kasibu, Nueva Vizcaya.

Nakakatuwang isipin na ang dating liblib na lugar na hindi kilala at hirap abutin o mapuntahan dahil sa kawalan ng maganda at passable na kalsada ay nakakapag-ambag sa ekonomiya hindi lamang sa lokal kundi sa buong bansa. Thank you Lord for the wonderful blessing.

Sharing some photos from the concluded blessing, inauguration, turnover and acceptance ceremony for the Php21M worth 2-storey Barangay Hall building and the Php2.5M worth Barangay Health Center of Barangay Didipio held on April 23, 2024.

The Barangay Hall Building was among the commitment projects of the Didipio Mine under the 2013 Memorandum of Agreement (from the original 1999 MOA) between Barangay Didipio and OceanaGold Philippines Inc.

The Barangay Health Center on the other hand was funded under the Company's Social Development and Management Program (SDMP).

This momentous occasion was attended by the distinguish guests from the Provincial LGU of Nueva Vizcaya, municipal Officials of LGU Kasibu, representative from the Mines and Geosciences Bureau Region 02, and the community of Didipio. Hagiyo Didipio!
