We had an exclusive interview with Police Lieutenant Mary Margarette C. Montes, a proud graduate of the Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA) โSilang-Paglaomโ Class of 2026, as she shared her journey of courage, discipline, and purpose in service.
A true Danawanon, PLT Montes was raised in Lawaan and grew up in the vibrant community of Danasan, Danao City, where her character and values were shaped. She now resides in Tuburan, Danao City, carrying with her the pride and strength of her roots.
Her calling to law enforcement was deeply personal. โWhat inspired meโฆ is my deep desire to serve and protect others, especially my family and community,โ she shared. Inspired by people in uniformโespecially her brotherโshe chose a path anchored not just on ambition, but on purpose. โMore than the title, itโs really the purpose of helping others that pushed me to take this path.โ
Her journey through PNPA tested her limits. Facing intense physical and mental challenges, she recalls, โThere were days when my body felt like giving up and my mind was full of doubts.โ Yet through resilience and faith in her purpose, she pushed forwardโdrawing strength from her family and her determination to succeed.
Now as a police lieutenant, she carries the meaning of โTatak Danawanonโ with deeper responsibility. โIt represents resilience, discipline, integrity, and honorโฆ Itโs a lifelong responsibility,โ she emphasizedโone that calls her to lead by example and uphold the trust of the people she serves.
